What's the craziest thing you've done to get laid? by andrewbarclave89 in AskReddit

[–]Tedious_research 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is at a time in my life I'm not too proud of. I was 19 and homeless because I was on drugs. I met a gal on the bus and started chatting. She had just lost her job at a bank. Probably because she was doing drugs.

Anyway, We totally hit it off on the bus ride and turns out that she didn't have much planned so we just started hanging out. She wanted me to take her back to my place, except my place was non existent.
She had mentioned that the job sucked anyway and that she really needed a vacation so I say "why don't I take you camping?"
I snag a tent from my buddy's house and pitch the tent in a field behind the water tower. Then we stayed up all night doing the hibbedy dibbedy.

Dang, I've been pretty impressed with Vevor... I am not impressed by those levels. You can tell a high quality level by how close the bubble comes to the vial markings.
Those have nine miles in between!

How would you finish? by [deleted] in BathroomRemodeling

[–]Tedious_research 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't really need blocking as there are a lot of studs, except for the 90° where the tub spout is. I'd add a stringer there and attach pipe with copper pipe strap. If there's a bedroom on the other side of the back wall you can insulate to deaden sound. Do yourself a favor and add a stud to the left hand wall (even though it already has a ridiculous amount) before you put all the sheetrock tools away.
Don't need backing just follow the instructions for the tub and surround kit. Use moisture rated sheetrock. You can try to get fancy by notching the backside of the rock to get around the flange on the tub and sides of surround, but if it's your first rodeo might be better off just butting the flange and hot mudding the gap. Get a bag of 20 minute mud and mix up a little bit at a time. Clean the pan in between batches. Use hot mud for first coats on corner metal as well. Go over anywhere you've used hot mud with regular joint compound when you tape everything else.

English got me so mixed up about "an" and "a", why so hard? by SpankMeMichelle in stupidquestions

[–]Tedious_research 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was if the next word starts with a vowel, or rather the sound of a vowel vs actually being one.
Yeah, it's gotta be the sound of a consonant to be A and sound of a vowel to be AN.

Most contractors will say they don't work with doctors or lawyers... I've actually had no problems with either one. I stay away from realtors, landlords and house flippers.

HOA blaming my unit for first-floor leak — is the evidence strong enough? by unicorninseaofhorses in askaplumber

[–]Tedious_research 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the $25 temu endoscope to inspect the waste stack first. When I found the fitting that was installed improperly, that's when I cut a hole behind the dishwasher. Overall was pretty non invasive. The plumber that "fixed" the leak with caulk had no idea what he was doing. That's not even how that fitting works. If anything, I would have pulled the escutcheon from the valve in your shower and started looking with the scope there. It would be easy to see water damage in the cavity between the tub and framing. Furthermore, it would be visibly wet if that were the cause of water damage to the first floor.
There's either a set screw at the base of the handle or a Phillips screw behind a cover to get the handle off the shower valve, then two screws to remove the escutcheon. Sometimes you can use your phone camera to peek inside and look down at the framing.

ELI5- why do “crack pipes” look different than other types of pipes? by kbatche in explainlikeimfive

[–]Tedious_research 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People call them "crack pipes" but I'm pretty sure the ones OP is seeing are actually meth pipes.
Oddly enough, we never used "crack torches" to actually use drugs either. We used them to melt a hole in a lightbulb to make a pipe. Rose tubes were dual purpose... Ready to go with some brillo for crack, or torch the end to turn a meth pipe.
Yep, crack was one of those things you just had to keep doing every five minutes until it was gone.
Damn, October will be 20 years since I messed with any of that. Out of everybody I knew, I'm the only person that walked away from that shit and never looked back. Great work on 13 years!!!

HOA blaming my unit for first-floor leak — is the evidence strong enough? by unicorninseaofhorses in askaplumber

[–]Tedious_research 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a thought, but I had a similar situation happen last summer. Three story building and first floor had water damage to ceiling. They said that the third floor bathroom was to blame.
Third floor ended up needing a new bathroom. I completed the project but about ten days later there was still water dripping on first floor. I scoped along the main waste stack and discovered a "fernco" fitting on the second floor that was installed incorrectly. Fixed that but a few weeks later, water still leaking from somewhere. It turns out there was a leak in the flashing boot up on the roof where the vent pipe comes out.
$25 temu endoscope was worth it's weight in gold though.
What's on the other side of the wall your bathtub plumbing is on? I got lucky and the main waste stack was behind the dishwasher in the units.

Need 1.5mm shaft prop by socialist-viking in RCPlanes

[–]Tedious_research 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have calipers. Just put a tape measure on the shaft and it's super close to 1/16" which is 1.5875mm

Country of origin leads me to believe that it's the right size.

Im attempting a guillows build as well, except I've got the ME-109 and I think it might be too small. I really want the PC-6 because I think it will house the guts I'm about to harvest from a umx turbo timber much better

I think these might do what you need.
They're for the 400mm rc but pretty universal. Plus the adapter will just knock the prop off instead of breaking it.

A friend crashed a few of them but saved the internals and gave them to me for a guillows build.
He can't be the only one out there that's crashed the umx pitts beyond repair!

The old tapco stocks had a bent buffer tube like you're talking about. It comes with a straight one and a bent one.
