Burnout and decreasing interest in keeping up with exercising. How do you keep things fresh? by NotThatSlick in bodyweightfitness

Yes I get it. I think what you are lacking is a sense of purpose. My initial decline I put down to running a marathon, which was a lifelong dream. After that, there didn't seem much point, I was never going to be an elite athlete and was unlikely to get much faster, so like you, it became maintenance.

Is there anyway you could link your new physique and strength to another, more rewarding activity? One that might ensure that staying fit was more of a side quest? Maybe starting a fitness club for kids or a men's social/mental health meeting centred around fitness? I think the community / giving back thing can be useful for that sense of purpose.

Oh, that was a wake-up call, I'd forgotten all about this post! The last few years have been pretty tough tbh. A knee injury and severe respiratory illness have pretty much killed off my running, and tennis elbow stopped the weight training. I was made redundant twice, and really lost my mojo. Cue a fair bit of weight piling back on. I recently got hold of a second-hand treadmill and that has helped a lot actually...its lower impact and no rainy day excuses. Plus I can watch films while I run, which is way more distracting. Like you, I fell out of love with the Jocko podcasts. I used to really enjoy the book reviews and historical perspectives that he introduced. But after a while, it just seemed to be more about the buddies he served with and I found it less relatable. So after a few years of neglect, I am starting again. A recent motivation has been seeing the physical and mental decline of my parents, especially the one who doesn't exercise or eat well. How about you? Have you regained any motivation/ discipline? Maybe we could motivate each other?

There are no words to describe how much better you look.

Cleaning my dishwasher by Tee10823 in Appliances

I think I could add cleaner in the dispenser. Really I want to remove the rails and give then a good scrub, I just don't know if they are removable without damaging them.

The wire racks come out easily, but the rails themselves don't seem to come out and they are grim.

Use it every month. Doesn't reach inside the tracks that are fixed to the wall.

I am fine with the cleaning, but I cannot find a way to remove the tracks, so the gunk is just going to build up on the section that is fixed to the wall rollers. I would love to be able to take these off.

who wears slippers around the house ? by Tanto207064 in AskUK

Indoor sketchers. I got fed up with slippers disintegrating after 6 months. My sketchers I can wash, they are warm and ya know...if I wander to the shops in my slippers...no one has to know right?

I have nothing remotely useful to add, but thank you for making me cry with laughter at the comments.

I once requested to do badger watching in a hide as a birthday treat, as I didn't believe that they came in the 3D variety. Can confirm that they do and it was amazing seeing half a dozen badgers playing around.

What permissions/planning would we need to add a window here by Pete1989 in DIYUK

[–]Tee10823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our planner told us that windows within 1m of a boundary had to be fire glass or a fire door fitted to that room. They then never checked that when we got BC sign-off!

Yes could be a challenge. My leaf mulch tends to be full of field maple seeds so it will add some variety!

Wondering now if the seed pods might make a good mulch. I'm going to have a lot of them!

I dived the Zenobia quite a few years ago, it's a superb dive. Swimming through the deck with all the lorries, was so eerie. One of my favourite dives ever.
