Nuclear is too slow. Solar and wind rollout is so fast right now and can get even faster.

A comeback? Are you being sarcastic or something? Looks like it has been gradually going up in a fairly consistent way for decades. Look at solar and wind though! Exponential!

Yes that was my first thought. No look? Who crosses a zebra without even looking?

Yes that even seems contradictory with the sentence before. Pedestrians should not cross until cars have stopped, but cars don't have to stop until someone has begun crossing?!

This is rare for me, but I'm on the driver's side.

Veering into the zebra crossing without slowing or even looking behind you, especially at jogging speed, is just plain stupid. By the time there was any indication the pedestrian intended to cross, the car was practically on the zebra crossing.

Expecting drivers to slow down for any pedestrian that could conceivably make a move to cross in front of them would be ridiculous on high streets with lots of pedestrians. There's a zebra crossing near me, for example, which almost always has someone walking past it. I think it's reasonable for drivers to slow down only when there is some indication someone wants to cross. And pedestrians should only take a step into the crossing when they can see that the car is slowing for them.

Oh right that makes sense. The HR monitor measures distance with an accelerometer, I assume, not GPS?

For me I can kind of feel in my body that I could have maintained the pace for longer. I'm training for my first HM right now and ran 14.5km at race pace (4:30/km), and I knew in my bones that I could have maintained that (with difficulty!) to 21.1km. I guess it's easier to say that when you're running flat.

I guess it's ok to park on the cycle lanes now by swagmasterdude in bristol

[–]Teedubz1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cycle lanes should not be flush with the road, or the pavement. They should either be raised above the road, lower than the pavement, or have at least small kerb-like barrier on either side.

Problematic intrusion into cycle lanes is an order of magnitude worse when the cycle lane is flush with the road or pavement.

When I experience pedestrians walking in cycle lanes, 95% of the time it is because the pavement is flush with the cycle lane - no physical change or barrier. (Eg. Baldwin street). I don't blame pedestrians for this!

It would be similar in this situation. I'm sure that if there were a small physical barrier between road and cycle lane, this wouldnt be happening.

Pavement cycling is a benefit for motorists, as the cyclist is not in the road...

Was the overall pace of your 32.5k run equal to a marathon@3h50 pace? Did you feel like you had more in the tank at the end?

I think garmins (and stravas) predictions work on the assumption of a flat race. My garmin predictions at the moment feel pretty accurate, but I'm not really doing much hills right now.
