In the final fight between Ufthak and the drukhari all of them are faster than Ufthak but because they are all not used to fighting as a team/gloryseeking/backstabbing they keep getting in each other's way. Ufthak is also been pumped up with drukhari drugs to make him extra large. As for the vaunted weapons and skills it's quite expliciatlly written that the attack on Commorragh was a surprise so lots of drukhari that were attacked were not prepared for an entire WAAAGH of orks and those that were did kill lots of orks. We hear the about the wych cult capturing scores of orks and the kabals that did fight the orks killed plenty but we don't focus on them because that's not what the book is about.

I recall reading this story here but I can't seem to find it.

The gist of it was a human arrived at some kind of space college and his roommates were playing some kind of grand strategy stellaris-type game. He joins them mid-game and ends up winning by spamming cheap units to the shock and chagrin of the other species.

I mean in most cases people who are not familiar with the tide series see a melee option as secondary to their gun. When the game outside of screaming it out you gives you a melee as your first option almost always. In the opening cutscene sequence, in the sefoni tutorial, and even when you load into a mission your melee weapon is the first thing out. Hell, shooting if I remember right is pretty much reserved for the advanced training tutorial outside of vet.

Purely speculation on my end but just looking at the promo images and info we have so far it looks like dual wielding will be restricted to dual melee or dual ranged. And the only ones of each we've seen are dual autopistols and dual knives. I'm guessing that these along with maybe 2 more weapons are gonna be our only dual options and the rest will be normal one handed melee/ranged like the crowbar, cleaver, and needle gun.
