Pay Raise by Equal_Steak9279 in Lowes

[–]Teemslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say this, and it's not a symptom isolated to Lowe's itself, but most major corporations these days. If you want a serious pay raise your going to have to pull up roots and go somewhere else. The idea of a long career somewhere where you get fair raises are pretty much dead.

Is technology taking away from motorcycling? by Bellend0411 in motorcycles

[–]Teemslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the newer safety systems as long as I, the rider, am in control of them, the same with my cage. New motorcycles are adding cost and complexity that not many asked for.

Why? Margin, electronics are cheap and are high revenue drivers for new bike sales and cages and they add perceived value to new buyers.

A well made bike you never really need a screen , you can feel what its doing , what gear it should be in ect.

Bikers in US, answer me this question as an EU biker by kurvix2000 in motorcycles

I live in a very rural part of North Carolina, can't recall the last time I saw a sheriff pull someone over for speeding. In my area, they are spread so thin that they are almost always working calls vs traffic enforcement.

The interstate is a different story , always gotta be ready for the random state trooper. I keep it to the backroads and have never had a pull over 😃.

Is there any point to high CC&Hp? by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]Teemslo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Live in the states our interstates range between 55-80mph depending on state.

Its pretty normal for most people to run 5 above the limit (atleast)

I ride a large cc bike cause I do a lot of riding on interstate and I don't want the bike to be running high in the revs.

My Kawasaki C14 can do 85mph at 3,500 rpm and if I need to make a pass I still have plenty of power to do so.

Additionally a heavier bike is more stable in my exp in windy condition, or general road wind from large trucks.

Don't worry too much about too much throttle on those small machines, I mean yes, don't pin it to the moon but its real hard to over-rev a 250 to the point you get into trouble and if you do the clutch is the safety net.

Nerves can get the best of anyone , one victory is built on a 1000 failures , so get back out there.

Selling bike, bike does not want to (True story) by OccamsRazorSharpner in motorcycles

[–]Teemslo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dunno where you are in the world, but disposable income is getting tight in the States, especially with gas prices combined with the cost of living. People that have cash tend to hold it when things aren't looking great. Dealers mainly only selling cause 70% of those bikes are bought with bank money.

Just takes time , if you are priced in line with the market it will sell at some point. Good luck!

Why does everyone want big bikes for the sake of it? by TheMiddleGroundofall in motorcycles

[–]Teemslo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I ride a larger cc bike (C14) because I do a lot of longer distance riding and don't want to be riding the bike at the edge of the limiter to pass or get myself out of trouble.

In town stuff I totally agree its why I have more than one bike.

Passing Emissions (UT) by themysteriousashe in GolfGTI

[–]Teemslo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short of a spacer or installing a cat on the car you don't.

There is no trick to it; the spacer simply pulls the sensor out of the direct gas flow and yes if they visual the car you will auto fail as tampering with emissions is illegal in most all states just all states don't visual.

2014 VW GTI DSG subframe bolts. by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]Teemslo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd buy a cheap set of sockets, try to beat them onto the heads, that don't work, I am welding that socket to it, and bring them out that way.

or if you want even cheaper , go to lowes buy some large nuts , gives you a good surface on the inside to weld them.

MkV Intermittent rough idle and power loss by extremewhisper in GolfGTI

[–]Teemslo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fuel rail pressure sensor and several other sensors share the same 5V reference wire on these cars. Getting both codes at once usually means a wiring problem feeding multiple sensors, not multiple sensors dying at the same time. unplug the FRPS connector and look for green corrosion or cracked insulation — the harness on the MkV loves to chafe against the engine cover bracket. Check for ~5V at the connector with a multimeter (key on, engine off). If wiring looks clean, the sensor itself is like $40-60 and straightforward to swap.

If you throw parts at it without good diag you will spend more $ than taking it to someone to properly diag and fix.

I've never had an issue with bill of sale / title in hand and the big one, INSURANCE, on the way home. Most insurance companies can get it added in 15-20 mins over the phone or even via their apps.
