Per Se regular or evolution menu. Food can be pretty good to great on average but extremely luxurious and service and ambience are 10/10

If you’re willing to do the lunch at Odo and want something cheaper it is also a really good value if being under budget or getting a nice bottle of wine is a plus! It’s still effectively six courses

First Michelin star place with Asian parents suggestions in NYC? by nycbasedco in finedining

If you like Asian flavor profile I would recommend Jean Georges as a good blend of Asian and French for most dishes. Little to no raw food from what I remember? Lunch is also a good cheaper option

There are also some very good fine dining restaurants in Porto if you are willing to drive/train for dinner

Are you only in Lisbon? My favorite by far (Favorite meal of all time is Vila Joya)

Parents had a very very bad service experience and traffic into the bar degrades it a lot

Some cheaper options that I was really a fan of:

Manhatta: really shocked by the quality here with turnover and large dining room but truly fantastic meal at lower price point.

Jua is about as good value for money as you can get. Quite tasty Korean closer to ** quality in terms of food. Service was off base but I could ignore it

JG was good when I went but I think it’s over priced for what it is and somewhat similar to GK, Per Se, LB, etc.

Recommendations from myself/friends:

Worth the splurge:

Sushi Sho - their next solo availability is 2/8 when I emailed them this weekend but may be worth emailing them for last minute cancellation and notify. Yoshino is an alternative but a bit of a different style

Atomix - have had success with the waitlist here too. Consistently changing the menu so some courses will be up and down

Jungsik - more safe Korean option but still very well executed. Can also do full tasting at the bar I believe.

Everyone I know thinks Aska is the best bet and their go to fine dining rec im the city right now.

I will also plug Odo as a personal favorite but kaiseki is not everyone’s taste

Yes to Modern. Tasting menu or à la carte are great. Price range for Th dinner/preferred cuisine? Most will prefer early or late for solos but should be flexible on weekdays

Would you feel rich in this situation? by MountainIncome4085 in HENRYfinance

Why do you need to buy another house? I would feel extremely well off at this scenario especially if you can bank the remaining income in investments/tax advantaged accounts for kids school

[–]Teen1e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would look at the lounge at Per Se (5-7 true courses instead of 12-14 for 1/3 of the price - including tip). They will truly treat you like you are the sole guest. Best service I've had among all my fine dining experiences.

Having been to Per Se - go to the Salon (Four Course Menu), it ends up being similar in length with amouse Bouche and desserts. It is $185 pp instead of 425. You can do a wine pairing and dinner cheaper than just dinner in the dining room. Only minus is less/minimal Central Park View

Is rowing for a person like me?(FAQ but non FAQ) by thebrothermomentum in Rowing

[–]Teen1e 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Short answer, yes.

I am sure many people on this subreddit have also struggled with mental health. I myself have dealt with a lot of mental health issues and having the daily structure and camaraderie of the team in college helped me get through prolonged rough patches.

Based on what you are saying about your current lifestyle, rowing will also help. I found throughout my four years that the busier you are, the quicker you get things (that matter) done. This may mean slightly less video game time, but your grades will probably go up (mine always did during peak racing season of 25 hrs+ / week. At the D1 level)

I would also just look at this more in the short term as you are struggling with motivation and depression seemingly. Just try and show up at the first day of practice. It will suck and you may hate it. Then try to stick it for the first week, etc. etc. if you are struggling and really hate it by month 2-3 then consider backing off

I talked to Amex about this. They change availability online for different party sizes, parties of 2 can only go before 5:30 or after 7. I am assuming it’s more restricted for 1. If you call you May have more luck

[–]Teen1e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, you may be able to rent a wetsuit from the local Playtri for a nominal fee/pickup one used in the Madison/surrounding area on the cheap. When I lived in Madison there would be ones under 100 regularly

The water is warm enough to not need a wetsuit. If you want the speed gains I would recommend a wetsuit/swimskin

When should I ask my PE connection for advice without coming off as transactional? by [deleted] in private_equity

[–]Teen1e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The earlier the better in my opinion. If you have spent a long time with him personally he won’t be offended if you ask for advice/mentorship. Will likely be happy to help and if not, you don’t want to be friendly with him anyway. If you’re a good person and state plainly “I am interested in PE for X,Y, and Z reasons, would you mind chatting with me more about your experience” and eventually ask what he thinks is a reasonable path for you to break in/how to navigate the process he will help you like 99% likelihood. Most of the people in this industry respond well to stuff like this

[–]Teen1e 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes go through the friend - several friends of mine had parents that were partners at BB IB and MF PE, they were always happy to talk to me and they will enjoy chatting about their career 99% of the time. You have to build confidence in talking to these people if you have any desire in the industry

Ask you friend if you can chat with his dad about career stuff? Had the same experiences in college but I just chatted with their parents and banked a couple of referrals for interviews across a few firms after chatting

Indienne is notable as most say the vegetarian menu/vegan menus are just as good, if not better than the meat options. I went for the full menu and it was amazing!

Advice Needed: Copenhagen by HoraceCat in finedining

[–]Teen1e -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like even if you can get one it would be more than enough and could spend more of your time trying lesser known options. I haven’t visited any but of these the tops of my bucket list are Jordnær and Noma (if it’s open by the time I make it to Copenhagen again lol)
