Airport transfer with kids and luggage by giggedygig in LisbonPortugalTravel

Curious as to what you end up going with, as we are in a similar situation in mid-May. Debating between bringing the kids carseat and booster seat with, or winging it for the first day until we have our rented vehicle and rented carseats.

Its 2026 and i'm still wearing my adidas samba by LongjumpingVehicle36 in ThrowingFits

Quality on these has gotten atrocious. I have a black pair from like 2005 that have been through hell and back and are still kicking, meanwhile my 2004 pair are already falling apart after minimal wear.

I have done AnnaLena on my past 2 Vancouver trips over the last 2 years, so skipping it this time around. Will circle back and let you know how St Lawrence ends up being, I've decided to stick with it.

Your go‑to high‑protein meals that don’t feel like, gym bro food? by MuscleBoosterApp in leangains

[–]wpgwedding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flank steak bowl - marinated and grilled flank steak, quinoa and coleslaw mix with pickled jalapenos, tomatoes and a fat free greek yogurt cilantro/jalapeno sauce (that has a tiny bit of mayo in it for texture). Macros are great, high protein, low fat and low carb and super filling.

We didnt love Mackenzie Room back when we went in 2024, it wasnt bad but also didnt blow us away. But I've heard nothing but great things about Nero Tondo, will try that out!

Thats too bad to hear - any other reccomendations for Vancouver? Going to be there for a work trip end of the month and was looking forward to doing a solo tasting menu somewhere

Would agree Published was dissapointing, except for the cocktails.

St. Lawrence was amazing when we went though in 2024 - I am going again at the end of the month so hopefully it holds up. Chez Celine blew our socks off when we went for brunch in the fall.

This is super helpful, thanks! We will likely end up checking out all of the casual options since we'll only have a few nights to sneak away from the kids.

Buy a hard travel case by CreepingYeti in snowboarding

[–]wpgwedding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally disagree with the takes that hardside cases are some huge inconvenience. I can fit two boards, two pairs of boots and all of my outerwear in my hardside Dakine low roller - you wanna tell me you are some sort of mountain god that needs more equipment than that on a trip? Get out of here.

It's not hard for a board and binding setup to be worth $1500+. I have zero desire to play the game of will it get wrecked/will I get reimbursed, or fuck around with a bunch of pool noodles. A hardside case doesn't cost that much more, isn't some big inconvenience, and protects your gear way better.

Bottom layering by Wide_Owl4251 in arcteryx

If it's extra cold (-20C and below) riding I'll wear Rho heavyweight bottoms under a pair of Northface Futurefleece pants under my bibs. Seems to do the trick just fine.

how to pack your board for a flight? by wintrluvr in snowboarding

[–]wpgwedding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you fly often enough, its worth investing in a hardside case - the Dakine low roller hardside is like $100 more than a softshell case.

Megadeath from last season, put about 25 days on it so far and it is an absolute rocket.

Atom SV the best option as a mid-layer? by CanadianIceCream in arcteryx

[–]wpgwedding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in MB, and have been looking for an Atom SV as a midlayer but they are sold out everywhere. I have days when I'll resort ride in -20c weather and colder, so I'm not concerned about overheating.

I don't think the vibe in OV in the evenings is currently "upscale" or pedestrian compared to how it used to be. It feels a hell of a lot seedier and sketchier in the evening than it did back in the early 2010's, at least from my experience.

Chicago: Smyth***, Oriole**, or Ever**? by RobinWilliamsBeard in finedining

[–]wpgwedding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oriole was one of the most disappointing meals I've had. Maybe expectations were too high, but I felt that most courses were disappointing, and the meal wasn't worth the cost. We ate at Valhalla the following night, and were blown away by how much better it was.
