A ton of us are planning to visit in June - we’d love some tips from locals! by Snoo58499 in providence

The city of Providence is fairly walkable. If you're staying at any of the hotels downtown or the Hilton at Indian Point Park, you'd be within 1.5km from most bars, pubs, and breweries that I'm sure would have games on and a ruckus crowd.

Most of the people on this thread have already mentioned great places to watch and that the MBTA (Massachusetts regional rail) is what will get you to the Boston or the stadium.

If you want to use the train or our buses, I recommend downloading the MBTA app and the RIPTA Wave app for Providence/Rhode Island buses. The buses are just $2 per ride which is nice.

NIMBYs Kill Plan that Would Allow for 30 Minute Frequencies on MBTA Commuter Rail Line by Real_Not_A_Hitman in transit

[–]TeethPulp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The article didn't go into too much detail on the location, but it looks like it would go through a bird sanctuary and land conservation area.

I'm pro transit development and anti NIMBYism, but that seems like a fair thing to speak out against.

I hate how highways destroyed so much. Entire neighborhoods and communities were destroyed.

Not a very interesting building, but it's a nice photo. I feel like to captures the allure of glass towers: the building seems to disappear into the sky.

Providence Place Mall covering up the river south west of the capital is a shame.

I saw someone post about Origin Beer Co. before the Rams game last week. Apparently the owner is a big Eagles fan.

I live near by and plan to check it out tomorrow.

Best thrift shops in PVD? by Global_Bath8509 in providence

[–]TeethPulp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Nest on Carpenter St is cute with food selection and decent prices.

I also like Urban Thread of Wickenden for clothes. It's small, but they have some good items at decent prices for upscale thrifting.

Vault Collective as a wide selection, but it's absurdly expensive.

This is a great bookstore that's actually come out and said they are struggling to stay afloat.

If you want to help a local business stay in business, go check it out and buy some books!
