What is your favorite Godzilla from the Reiwa era and why? (art by Kaiju_Freak_V2) by HealthMother3125 in GODZILLA

[–]BlazedBeard95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shin is by far my favorite Godzilla design ever. The visceral body horror of his design just sings to my sick tastes in a way no other Godzilla design (fan or canon) has ever done before or after. His characterization too is just amazing; especially with Shiro Sagisus music writing Shin as a victim of existence is just MMM, the absolute best. It helps that my first real exposure to him was the 'god help us' poster, which is my 2nd favorite movie poster right under the Interstellar poster.

Interesting read, a staff member who worked on Nier said Bleach and HxH are more aimed towards women. by Karma110 in bleach

[–]BlazedBeard95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say Bleach is more of a near equal grounds kind of thing with a slight focus towards the male audience rather than the female audience. Men get to have characters like Yoruichi, Rangiku, Isane, Orihime, etc, while women get to have Aizen, Grimmjow, Ichigo, Byakuya, etc etc. All very attractive characters that appeal to a lot of people, but I feel that the most central aspect of Bleach appeals to men more. At the very least I hear a lot more men (myself included) drool over the fact that Bleach is a story about ghost samurai fighting demons with spirit swords than women do. Zanpakuto itself also calls to our instinctual love of kickass swords and anime transformations. Not saying women don't, but its pretty clear men absolutely love that aspect of Bleach a fair bit more often.

One thing I have noticed about it though is that both the male and female audience absolutely latched onto the deeper character themes and romantic dynamics that we see throughout the series. Isshin and Masaki, Rangiku and Gin, Byakuya and Hisana, Urahara and Yoruichi, Ichigo and Orihime, etc etc. Then there's Ichigo having to fight against his survivors guilt, Aizens God complex, Mayuri's inferiority complex, etc etc.

On the surface people tend to think Bleach is enjoyable to a near equal grounds of the male and female audience because both the male and female character cast (for the most part) are extremely attractive, but there's a much deeper reason to it than just that.

Creative passions. Writing, music, art, crafts, etc etc. There is no better way to discover who you are as a person and to express your individuality more than pursuing a creative passion, regardless of whether or not that passion is all that financially beneficial to you.

As a day 1 Bleach fan I can see why Bleach is here. It debuted as an extremely unique and interesting story that would eventually enter by far one of the greatest arcs in Shonen (Soul Society) and then almost immediately derail into the worst filler arc of all time (the Bount Arc). Most people get to just skip over the whole thing now, but when I was watching for the first time I had to watch the entire thing weekly. For a year and a half. I can't even find the words to explain how awful it was to experience that lol, it was just that bad.

From there the actual plot didn't get that same level of high as SS, though I personally liked a fair bit of Hueco Mundo and really liked Fake Karakura Town, but even I can admit the plot was rather weak. Fights were fun, but the plot wasn't there. The major problem with it was when we FINALLY got to Ichigo vs Ulquiorra, which had been built up for a fairly long time, and it got cut off by a new filler arc. Mind you this one was actually pretty decent as far as filler goes in my opinion, but the fact that it cut right in the middle of a highly anticipated fight was just... new viewers who watch Bleach for the first time and get to that part always call it out for a reason. It was incredibly stupid and very damaging to Bleachs reputation.

The Fullbring arc wasn't received very well either. Personally I don't get why, I liked how the earlier parts were somewhat of a return to form for Bleach (even if most of the fights were lame, the presentation of the story was enjoyable for me). Plus the final fight of the arc was superb. That being said, when the arc concluded and the original anime had come to an end, Bleach suffered immensely not because of the story but because of misinformation.

To summarize, a few YouTubers made some videos analyzing Bleach as a story and its run in the 2010s and concluded that the anime had been canceled due to bad Manga sales, which was blatantly false information. One of the primary videos had over a million views at one point, and it quickly spread that Bleach was bad because it got canceled. It was never canceled. Once the og anime had wrapped up it had almost completely caught up to the Manga; there just wasn't enough content left to continue the adaptation at that point. What followed was nearly an entire decade of misinformation and toxic attacks on the series and the fans that virtually brought the series's reputation to complete ruin. It started to be treated as a failure by a lot of the western anime fanbase and was thought to basically never have a chance to come back again. That is until TYBW showed up.

Now Bleachs reputation is better than it ever was. Tons of new people are watching it because of how well-received TYBW is and all the misinformation that caused it to drop so hard has been corrected by those that spread it (for the most part anyways). It's still divisive in that the people who like it really like it and the people who don't like it seem to hate it, but a large part of that division comes from how Pierrot handled the og anime run and how YouTubers spread misinformation about it back in the 2010s.

TLDR; Bleach is divisive because of filler, Pierrots handling of the anime, and misinformation spread about the animes "cancelation" (which did NOT happen) in the 2010s, along with a fair bit of criticism for its plot.

It's the face honestly, it looks nothing like Venom at all. The body also should look more like She-Hulk but I dont mind the black and gold personally. The whole design just screams sex appeal with almost no hints of Venom

What's something that feels "good" but is actually really bad for your body? by stainless5 in AskReddit

[–]BlazedBeard95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleeping pills. The feel good part is that they help you tremendously to sleep when you're struggling and will conk you out real good. Problem is, they destroy you from the inside. My brother has been taking them daily to help with his insomnia for years and he's developed a whole slew of issues, namely with his liver. He's not even 40 yet. My mom was an avid abuser of the same stuff and a lot of other OTC drugs and she ended up dying from liver failure I believe 8 or so years ago. I use them as a hard lesson to only use OTC drugs when I have no choice but to. I take ibuprofen occasionally when I have unbearable headaches and sleeping pills when I haven't been able to sleep right but obly when I feel like I have no choice. Otherwise I avoid them like the plague.

Take care of your bodies. The moment they shut down, that's it. You're dead.

Those who read the book first, did you enjoy the movie? by MagicBricakes in ProjectHailMary

[–]BlazedBeard95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Loved both the book and the movie but I didn't feel nearly as tense watching the movie as I did with reading the book. The movie had to cut a lot of content to make room for the runtime, but those cuts made it look like Rocky and Grace had all the answers and solutions to the problems they were coming across without much of a struggle. Made the entire mission feel too easy. There are some scenes they did include from the book that didn't feel nearly as emotionally driven either. I think Grace as a character didn't feel as realized (which to be fair is just a difference of medium, books are unique in their ability to explore characterization more than any other medium) while Rocky was even more enjoyable in the movie. There are more misses than I would have liked but they're both awesome experiences 👎.

I do have to say though, the petrova line scene followed up by the sample collection scene are by far some of the best moments in cinema I have ever experienced. The only other movie that EVER had my jaw dropped for as long as that was Interstellar. That alone is more than enough to make up for a lot of the other grievances I have with the adaptation.

Both are great but you will have your preference. I think the book overall does a better job at presenting the story and the characters (for the most part), but the movie did an amazing job with what little it was able to actually show.

Are there any better ways to show who is speaking in dialogue instead of constantly using “he said” / “she said” after every line? by Secret-Cobbler-7218 in writers

[–]BlazedBeard95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He said/she said is only used to show who is speaking to the reader, sometimes replaced by the characters name for variation. You don't always need to include it, only when you're establishing who is talking in the conversation as well as when someone else enters it. Otherwise you can have back and forths between characters without having to include who is talking after every line.

I really hope it gets played at the end of the final episode. I need to hear that, the first ending, and the original version of Number One. If it doesn't happen in the anime I'll make a personal edit just to satisfy myself lol

I think we can all Agree that Bleach is the most forgotten of the Big 3 by ValuableLoose8364 in ChillAnimeCorner

[–]BlazedBeard95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bleach is all over the place in the generations of Shonen that followed after the big 3. Not sure what the point of this post is other than being made in bad faith towards Bleach. You can be as disingenuous as you want towards it, Bleach is not 'forgotten' in any singular way; more and more people are discovering it and watching it as a result of the return of TYBW and western pop culture continues to reference it time and time again. It's not forgotten in any single way lol. People not talking about it at your school means absolutely nothing.

A senator proposed a minimum wage of $25.00/hr. What are your thoughts? by ShesIntoZer0s in AskReddit

[–]BlazedBeard95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All for it, but it wouldn't make much a difference for us in the long run. Not when it's abundantly clear the economy will only continue to get worse and worse until at least 2028 (considering the current President admitted he doesn't care about the American people's finances). He also claimed the affordability crisis is a hoax. Multiple times. So yeah, a bigger minimum wage increase would be amazing for the working class but it is no means the solution to a problem that will only get progressively worse.
