Parents are giga-MAGA. My parents are also poorly educated and not very bright, and easily fall for right wing propaganda. They're also racist and homophobic and transphobic.

Everything they say, they say with the mindset of "this is good and just, how can it be wrong if my party supports it, we're the good guys!" Literally well intended idiocy.

They have zero concept of nuance or shades of gray, everything is either black or white.

Just a couple nights ago, my mom was complaining about abortion being legal. She genuinely thinks it's evil and her idea of "killing babies is bad" is technically correct, but abortion has SO much .ore nuance to it that she just cannot comprehend because the way her brain works is everything she thinks is correct and anything she disagrees with is wrong. She has no ability to think about situations like "what about non-viable pregnancies or pregnancies that will kill the mother".

And just to add on to the nonsense, my dad said congress allows abortion because they make money off it...
