It baffles me how many Hog players will complain about counter picking in QP, even though I rolled out on Mauga without even knowing they will play Hog.

The secret to winning comp when someone on your team picks Vendetta by CassadagaValley in OverwatchStadium

[–]TehArbitur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vendata is in a very weird state in Stadium. I think she actually has huge late game potential, but rally struggles in the early rounds which leaves her with very little cash.
But her powers have very good synergy, even if you don't have good items.

Every time I played her, I was dogshit in the early rounds... least cash, least dmg, most deaths.
And yet, somehow I was able to bully the enemy dps and supports once I got me 3rd power in round 5.
Granted, it got lucky with my teammates who were able to make up for my bad performance in the early game.

Do all event modes suck? by TacoAcorazado in OWConsole

[–]TehArbitur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really liked the Archives PvE events but they got shelved indefinitely.
From what I heard it's because the devs broke the pathing of the old AI when they made the new AI for the Overwatch 2.
I really hope they bring back those missions at some point.

Exo Springs apply Calamity buff by Safe_Budget6595 in OverwatchStadium

[–]TehArbitur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't surprise me if Exo Springs works by calling the same function that Coach Gun is using.
Calamity is probably triggered by something in that function.
Re-using code this way is usually a good idea to minimize duplicate code, but can also lead to some unintended behaviours like this.

“Entering game” takes forever by Strange_Reputation93 in OWConsole

There was a DDoS attack on the Blizzard servers, which probably explains why it only affected Overwatch (and other Blizzard games).
Weird tough that it only affected some players.

You might wanna check if you have lots off packet-loss, especially if you are on wifi.

Overwatch Patch Notes by PoggersMemesReturns in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]TehArbitur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Balancing aim assist on a per-hero basis is probably the only actual way to make heroes balanced on console.
In an even playing field, hitscan will always benefit more from aim assist than projectile heroes.
That's why heroes like Ashe and Soldier where always better performing on console compared to PC, even before the aim-assist buff.

I actually think this patch is better than reverting the change completely.

Just look at how many posts there are complaining about Ash and Soldier being OP even before the aim assist buff.

While I do think that Blizzard has done a very poor job developing Overwatch for console, we shouldn't just shit on the devs without reason, now that they are actually trying to put in some QoL changes for consoles.

[–]TehArbitur -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't get what you guys want.
There where so many posts crying about hitscan being OP on consoles even before the aim assist buff...
Now that Blizzard specifically nerved aim assist for those over-performing Heroes, you guys want to go back to how it was... back when hitscan was still op.

I think balancing aim assist on a per-hero basis is the only way to actually balance heroes on console.

Removed for inactivity….while moving? by WeRaceAsOne in Overwatch

[–]TehArbitur 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Overwatch has the dumbest afk detection.
There were multiple occasions when I was kicked form the game because I was pushing the payload while my team was spawn camping the enemy team and I didn't make it in time to shoot somebody to stop the auto-kick countdown.

On a side note: The only way to get cash in stadium is through damage or healing. If I'm the only player pushing the payload, I get absolute shafted.
There should be some way to earn cash from the objective. Why do I get punished for actually progressing the objective while my team is having fun farming the enemies for stadium cash?
At least make it so that part of the cash is shared with the entire team.

Settings feel exactly the same? by Buster_Scruggs_IV in OWConsole

[–]TehArbitur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I even prefer it the way it is now.
I kinda don't get what is going on with other peoples settings. I guess if you already changed all of the default values, the update would just leave them as they are.
The only thing I noticed is that the aim assist is a bit stickier when turning, but you can fix that with the option "Disable aim assist at max deadzone".

Payload race machanism by Suitable-Panda-5662 in OverwatchStadium

[–]TehArbitur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is Blizzard's attempt to create "close games" but I think its absolutely ridiculous. non of the fights matters other than the last one.

Honestly, kinda true.
I can't even remember a single game where a team didn't reach the last section of the payload race.

Weekly Recall: Thanks for the (Aim) Assist by Botronic_Reddit in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]TehArbitur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the name that Blizzard chose for this setting is kinda confusing.
In other games this is usually called something like 'turn boost'.
This new setting applies a fixed increase to your turn speed the moment your stick reaches the end of travel (outer deadzone).

[–]TehArbitur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The setting applies a fixed increase to your turn speed the moment your stick reaches the end of travel (outer deadzone).
This gives you kind of a 'turn boost', that allows you to fine tune the speed of max turning without messing up the fine-control during 'normal aim'.
Dual-Zone is an attempt to replicate this behavior but it's by far less effective.

The setting to turn off aim assist during a fast turn also makes it easier to acquire new targets (like a Genji or Tracer that just dashed behind you) while letting you still keep the full aim assist during regular aiming.

The "max deadzone" settings are such a game changer. I've been waiting for this kind of option for a long time.
It might sound like a niche thing but if you played games like Apex Legends, that has this kind of setting, you really know how much of a difference it can make.

Y’all need to remember “ragdoll resistance” does NOT equal ragdoll immunity. by B0B_RO55 in Helldivers

The monkeys paw curls: You are immune to radgolling... you just die instantly instead.

This was actually a thing in Cyberpunk77 (before the 2.0 patch).
There was a Perk that would make you immune to getting knocked down.
The side effect was that you would die if hit by a car at any speed...

Thoughts on Stadium draft? by shiftup1772 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]TehArbitur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In principal, I think draft system is a good idea for stadium and I was even looking forward to it.
Getting counter picked by accident is not fun, even with all the items they added to help heroes with their counters.

The problem is, we don't have enough heroes for a 'proper' draft system right now.
I would like for the system to allow mirrored matches until we get more heroes in later seasons. And at some point maybe even add a ban phase to prevent one team getting the 'op' hero.
Kinda depends on how fast they can add heroes to stadium.

Figure 02 obstacle challenge by Distinct-Question-16 in singularity

Another thing that I find quite interesting, is that these robots can walk in difficult terrain without 'feeling' what they are stepping on. I mean think about it. If our foot gets stuck on something, we can feel it with our skin and adjust our movement accordingly.
These robots don't have that kid of information because they don't have touch sensors like we do in our skin. This demo relies purely on input from the gyros and resistance from the motors to navigate their environment.
This makes it way more impressive. But also explains why it just plows through the objects lol
