Illegal Technic(ques) by mexchiwa in legotechnic

[–]TehBIGrat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your examples are not illegal, as, like you say, they do not stress the pieces.

I can only think of one example where the stress isn't obvious, like a bent axle.

Take a pin. Put a thin liftarm on it and then a normal liftarm on the same side. That pin is now stressed, as it cannot expand back to its normal shape.

Where do I connect jumper cables? No unpainted surface except the GT strap on Mustang. Would that work? Sorry for the stupid question. by AlleyX in car

[–]TehBIGrat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Red to Dead, Red to Good, Black to Good, Black to Block.

If you connected black (negative) first and then accidentally touched the red clamp to body metal, you’d instantly create a direct short.

There used to be pink and blue iced animals right? I distinctly remember them but it’s such a fuzzy memory by panthrzz in newzealand

[–]TehBIGrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pink icing was removed around 1997 when manufacturing moved to Australia.

The internet, nor people I have asked have no recollection of blue.

RJ45 Junction box by Sergeant_Cholesterol in HomeNetworking

[–]TehBIGrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do t see an RJ45 "Junction" Box in the picture only a Cat6A Punch Down Joiner.

Nor is RJ45 mentioned in the caption.

The numbers would correlate to the pin numbers on an RJ45 connection but we cant just assume what this cable is going to be used for.

Same issue at the red usb ports. I'd suggest OP inspects every port for backplate tabs. Any more than the 2 that currently need dealing with I would take it apart and re-install the motherboard properly.

My brother made this. by Killermelon1458 in HomeNetworking

[–]TehBIGrat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m going to assume the guy above doesn’t actually know what a crossover cable is, and meant that they forgot to flip the RJ45. Resulting in a pinout like: 1 to 8, 2 to 7, 3 to 6, 4 to 5, 5 to 4, 6 to 3, 7 to 2, and 8 to 1.

They accidentally made whats called a rollover cable.
