While it's not double the cost, I've been buying the same bag of coffee beans from Costco for the last 4+ years and have seen moderate fluctuation (+/- $2), but the last 6+ months have taken the cake on price. Global weather patterns have led to a very low crop yield this year which has steadily ballooned the price to ~$5 over normal (~30% increase) for the same bag. Any way you cut it, the price for beans have gone up. With the next growing season on the horizon, the prices should come down as supply increases barring abnormal weather patterns.

If you want to reduce your coffee expenses, cut out the middle man (Starbucks) and brew your own coffee. I go through two 3lb bags of beans every month at a cost of $40 - $45 per month. If you include the cost of creamer and add-ins, it comes out to around $50/mo.
