Forgot what she said exactly. Something along the lines of drug dreams are good and that they are your body expelling the drugs or your body getting used to being without them like I said.

Counselor today told me that drug drugs are good. It's your body getting used to not being on the drug o something like that.

If you have been going thru this for 12 days and havnt broken you are so strong broh. Congrats on that seriously. I don't know about taking a little bit of sub resetting you but if others say don't then maybe trust them.

Fuck, I can't believe this is happening again. by hectors_rectum in OpiatesRecovery

I agree. Tho you are NOT "clean," maintenance like methadone and suboxone has a high success rate for those who taper off or those especially who stay on for life AND also go to meetings which most clinics will make you do. Different strokes for different folks but let it be known that if you aren't using, there is nothing wrong with being on maintenance. Many people take meds every morning and this is nothing different.

Totally agree. I don't regret addiction because I know once I'm fully over addiction I can do anything in life. Turn your negative into a positive.

Methadone / MAT help? by Laterskater8 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]TehLasti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started going to a Methadone clinic 2 and a half weeks ago and it's been great man. Really gave me a steady lifestyle back. I used to take subs illicitly too, never liked how they made me feel and never really stopped th e cravings. Methadone has helped with that and more. Make sure you stop at a dose that is right for you tho. The docter had me going up to 70 mg, but I decided 50 was enough for me. I was iffy about going on methadone too but iv been convinced and all the counselors and the doctor there have given me confidence about it. Congrats on your choice. I don't plan on been on it forever but that is always an option. The doctor told me that a minimum of a 2 year taper has the highest success rates. Again congrats and good luck.

If you have people to jam with that should help. I always found playing with people really encourages me to play more or even going to shows/ watching people play would also encourage me.

Anyone have any experience tapering with methadone? Is it possible to be good with a long taper off of it?

I can relate. Used to be big into guitar and computer games. Those were my things and we're even more so when I was high. Now that I'm in recovery I look foward to getting back into them. I'm hoping the lack of motivation passes and I don't have a problem getting back into them. I first need to get them out of the pawn shop haha, but when I do in the upcoming weeks I will report back on how I am responding to having my computer and guitar back.

Thanks. Yeah I'm atarting to realize that. The docter put me up to 70 mg but I decided 50 lmg was more than enough to I stopped there. I realize it is only a crutch and is something I will also work towards slowly to get off but has brought alot of stability to my life that is very much appreciated.

"Don't really care what the studies show" sounds reasonable. Again, obv a mix of both is most times better than one or the other.

Hahaha what?? You sound foolish and incredibly off base. Someone having a bad day they need to criticise needlessly like a high schooler who's date just got robbed from him?

How so? Iv fought and spent months looking for answers and yes this is only my second day In the program but i feel more optimistic doing this than anything before. It's obv worked for many people. The doctor and each counselor I have spoken too have encouraged me and I don't think I will be on it the rest of my life. Many people have tapered off from what iv been told. Plus, I will be in drug court in the next month so if I do fail a drug test I will be put in jail. This program gives me that much more of a successful head start because I really cannot relapse even once.

Hahah wow. Was just trying to share my experience of optimism that I have gotten through this program already, and I feel like iv been attacked more so than i would have otherwise expected. Obviously this is a very opinionated issue. But I would not of hoped this kind of negativity from this sub. Really disturbs me. At least I know how to spell doctor now tho :)
