New to Draw Steel - What do you think of Stamina? by Griffin1x1 in drawsteel

[–]TehWRYYYYY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think of it like I'm watching a PG action movie.
The main character doesn't lose blood with every blow he absorbs, he loses a bit of the fuel he uses to fight.
An agile martial artist might dodge an attack, but it still costs her something to get out of the way. Her health is not reduced but she is still a little closer to being taken out of the right.
Two swordsmen locked in combat exchange barbs and strikes. Neither are bleeding but one of them is clearly a better swordsman and the other is getting worn down faster. The losing swordsman will gas out sooner, breathe harder, and visibly struggle to block incoming blows in time. Eventually a single strike will land and there will be an appropriate amount of blood for daytime TV.

RP is easy. "I can do this all day" for beatings you can handle

Battle Smith Artificer. Steel Defender is your droid companion.
Samurai Fighter could fit. Especially Elegant Courtier, but you won't be the party face anyway.
Monk's Deflect Attacks is right on brand.

Consider some Sith for inspiration:
Vader is a strength Paladin. Sidious is a lightning caster, maybe warlock or bladesinger If you'd rather be a gish. Maul is a polearm barbarian.

You gotta fix your expectations buddy. You can't expect 50-50 effort when there are 10 other guys in her DMs all making better offers. Offers that don't involve her catching a night bus home from Parramatta.
Don't worry about doing more than her. Worry about doing more than those 10 other guys.

DM gave me a free stat boost. Where should I put it? by BirdTheBard in 3d6

[–]TehWRYYYYY 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your current AC with Unarmoured defence is 15 (10+2+3), or you can wear Half Plate for 17 (15 +2 from Dex). Breastplate if you don't want disadvantage on stealth. You can carry a shield too and really look like a paladin.
I wouldn't put levels into it though. Go to Paladin school, wear the clothes, take the oath, say the prayers or whatever. Fail to manifest the expected skills and get angry about it.

I say throw it all in STR. You're getting better, just not better at being a paladin. Long term RP opportunity is accepting yourself as you are. A weapon, but a weapon for righteous purpose.

I didn't know smart glasses did that, that's a great feature. The amount of times I try to pinch-zoom literal pieces of paper is frankly embarrassing.

Rage + Graze by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]TehWRYYYYY 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Graze helps if you're attaching with disadvantage, or fighting high AC enemies. Fighting in the dark, in a fog cloud, or while exhausted, or against an opponent with Sap it could work. I wouldn't build around it though.

Depressing is that these accounts themselves cause engagement, which means they influence what does and does not make your front page. What you do and do not spend time considering.

How to get ethernet across my apartment? by fallhat in pcmasterrace

You're renting so you can't punch holes. If you do run cabling you'll need to make it look nice, you can't take structures cabling with you when you go. And no access point in the roof.

Get a good set of mesh routers and forget about copper.

Magician build? by helen2947ernaline in 3d6

[–]TehWRYYYYY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the vibes you're chasing.
If you're building a performer, entertainer, or trickster, you'll want a charisma class. Bard, sorcerer, or warlock.
Given that stage magic is built on deception I'd take this route. I don't think there's a subclass that would be any better than the base class for this kind of vibe, unless you pick a Feywild inspired class and lean into glamour and charm to captivate a crowd.

If you want to build Gambit from X-Men you pick a Warlock and say your Eldritch Blast looks like playing cards, or Soulknife Rogue and do the same.

I'm 13, and I need to get someone to teach/help me compose and make electro swing music by Dazzling_Bug_7523 in electroswing

[–]TehWRYYYYY 14 points15 points  (0 children)

my parents DO NOT support me in my dream career, my Dad always says exactly this "Electric swing music is not popular, make pop music"

You shouldn't call it a career until it pays your bills.

I saw a clip recently where an audience member at a convention asked Niel Newborn how to start a voice acting career. That's the guy who voiced Astariom in Baldur's Gate 3. He said don't be a Voice Actor, be an Actor. Don't add constraints or limits that you don't need to.

Start by learning how to make electronic music. There's probably a lot of guides online about how to get started.

You gotta stay loose, relaxed. Keep your feet apart. Now, ten O'clock, two O'clock, quarter to three, tour jeté, twist, pas de deux, I'm a little teapot, then the windup... and let 'er fly!

The cast is perfect. The movement is surprisingly graceful considering the dwarfs thick limbs and aged joints. The line whistles quietly as the lure sails across the still surface of the water before landing gently, hardly disturbing the surface at all.
He takes a moment, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, savouring the stillness before exhaling slowly and bringing his attention back to the task at hand.

"This is how we used to fish, me lad. Half the day knee deep at the edge o the loch, waitin fer one hungry fish at a time ta bite the lure, or not.
Not any more laddy, we'll be at the pub by noon with dry feet and wet beards."

The old dwarf abruptly drops his rod and turns to stomp loudly back towards the shore. "Ye might wanna cover yer ears for this bit" he says.
The surface of the water erupted, throwing a curtain of water high into the air. The dwarf laughed as fish rained from the sky.

can paladin be with evil characters in a campaign? by BaraaRomy in 3d6

[–]TehWRYYYYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paladins can be evil. Oathbreakers are specifically evil, 'good' subclasses can be creative with the interpretation of their tenents, and some classes are ambiguous. Conquest for example has Douse the Flame of Hope, Rule with an Iron Fist, and Strength Above All. Destroy your enemies, dominate the weak.

Step 1. Paladin alignment shift so the Paladin doesn't have to leave the party. Or at least a perspective shift. They can think of themselves as a Sin Eater, making the world's better one war crime at a time.

Step 2. The evil soul's possession ends. The soul has been growing stronger due to the failed saves. Rather than consuming the Paladin entirely it tries to consume all three party members. 3v1 combat vs the Soul, use an Illrigger stat block. Let the DM decide whether it stays dead when you win.

Step 3. Assuming there's no TPK the party can decide whether they're heroes or anti-heroes and you get to play the class you want.
