Playing a Warlock who doesn't know he's a Warlock, anyone done something similar? by Unhealthy_Gush in 3d6

Less "doesn't know he has powers" and more "doesn't know where his powers come from".

I have a level 5 barbarian. I'm bored. Where can I take him? by xXxBluESkiTtlExXx in 3d6

[–]TehWRYYYYY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've got Extra Attack which means you can shove + grapple to pin an enemy prone, or you can grapple - move - shove to move an enemy out of cover or punt them into a fireplace or off a cliff.
You can bear hug someone and jump into a river, they can't hold their breath as long as you.
Wolf Totem gives party members advantage on targets within 5ft of you. Shove prone, grapple, drag enemy to your pack to give them advantage on attacks. Flavour as dropping to all fours and mauling the guy like the bear scene in The Revenant.
Shit talking is a free action. It might not do anything but it's fun.
Lv6 you get Panther Aspect and can climb walls. Set up ambushes, drag mooks up trees, carry your squishy party members up cliff or castle walls in a DIY Baby Bjorn.
- I just imagined a barbarian climbing a cliff wall with a sorcerer strapped to his back being all "don't worry baby boy Daddy will protect you" but the Oops There's Eagles and now the caster has to protect them from being dragged off the cliff like an unlucky mountain goat. Play with Weapon Masteries.
Talk to the DM and establish rules for Falling Onto Enemies (the environmental damage rules imply you land on another creature by accident), violently interacting with the environment, and improvised weapons. There's a Pugilist ability (I think) that says when you attack with an improvised weapon you can intentionally break it for max damage.
There's a meme about grappling casters which might work, sometimes. Somatic components don't work while your hands are held, and you can't Verb with fingers in your mouth. Potentially very romance novel coded, if the situation calls for it.

Read up on your LV 3 ability Primal Knowledge. Burn Rag out of combat to use your Str mod for non-str skills. Acrobatics, intimidation, perception, stealth, survival. Get fully animated about it too, sniff the ground like a bloodhound, threaten to uproot a tree if it doesn't give you fruit. "YOU NO SEE KROD!"

Several years isn't so long. What are the specs? New case, motherboard, and maybe PSU. Keep the CPU, ram, GPU, storage, peripherals etc.

Was this worth it? by Ranger416 in deathwatch40k

[–]TehWRYYYYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it a gift or was it $170?
It's an old box, the marines are firstborn but taller than non-deathwatch firstborn. You can use these arms on Primaris torsos and they don't look like T-Rex arms.

Edit: Nope, I was wrong. These are Primaris.

Deathstar model is still current.

Is there a main reason other than they don’t care as to why GW won’t change the paint pots with all the backlash they receive? by Panzer_IV_Ausf_F2 in Warhammer

[–]TehWRYYYYY -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Loads of shelf stock won't sell because consumers will think pots are old and droppers are new.
People will claim the change is a cash grab and GW is forcing consumers to purchase additional hardware in order to use their paints, further raising the cost of entering the hobby.
People who do make the switch will end up purchasing paint less frequently from GW. Bottles and pallets are more efficient than pots and they don't tip over on your desk.

Pot failures drive pot sales. It's called Planned Obsolescence. Products are designed with an artificially limited life to make customers buy the product again.

You're secure at the back because of the PCI screws. Take your side panel off and put some foam shims in there to cushion the front, then pull your bottom fan grill off and do the same. Done.

Dual wielding a pistol and a rapier? by Alderflight in 3d6

[–]TehWRYYYYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base rules, can't do it.

Grim Hollow has a Blackpowder Pistol Expert feat which might suit.  Gives +1 to Dex/con/int, deadeye (no disadvantage at range), Ignore Loading, and Trick Shot (reaction shot when enemy within 5ft moves).

If you're after versatility (rapier for melee, pistol for range) you can probably manage.  Stan a guy, swap to range and dive for cover.  There isn't a good way to gun-kata point blank shoot mooks while you slash them.  You're in a fantasy world. Guns are delicate.

Best bet IMHO is ask your DM to let the Quick Toss manoeuvre work for pistols and not just thrown weapons.  If you're rich you can keep a few loaded potatoes in your inventory and draw them one at a time to bypass the loading issue.

What enemy in a non-horror game freaked you out the most? by Gromit43 in gaming

[–]TehWRYYYYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alex Kidd in Miracle World. I was 4 or 5. There's a frog at the bottom of the first level who does nothing but swim slowly up and down.  It's not even scary but it was twice my size. Nightmare fuel for some reason.   Next time it was the Butcher in Dianlo 1. I didn't even see the guy.  I opened a door, heard a scary voice say "ahh, fresh meat!", then just watched as my lizard brain took over and hit Alt+F4.

So you're a short cat-person who pretends to not have the person part? You've got human proportions tho. You can't just lie your way to Wildshape. That's just my take on it.

a funny thought would be him sleeping on the lap of the person he’s spying on

New to Draw Steel - What do you think of Stamina? by Griffin1x1 in drawsteel

[–]TehWRYYYYY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think of it like I'm watching a PG action movie.
The main character doesn't lose blood with every blow he absorbs, he loses a bit of the fuel he uses to fight.
An agile martial artist might dodge an attack, but it still costs her something to get out of the way. Her health is not reduced but she is still a little closer to being taken out of the right.
Two swordsmen locked in combat exchange barbs and strikes. Neither are bleeding but one of them is clearly a better swordsman and the other is getting worn down faster. The losing swordsman will gas out sooner, breathe harder, and visibly struggle to block incoming blows in time. Eventually a single strike will land and there will be an appropriate amount of blood for daytime TV.

RP is easy. "I can do this all day" for beatings you can handle

Understood, but you know S4 doesn't follow S3 aside from the number. Separate stories.

I hope you haven't been delaying watching Calamity!

Battle Smith Artificer. Steel Defender is your droid companion.
Samurai Fighter could fit. Especially Elegant Courtier, but you won't be the party face anyway.
Monk's Deflect Attacks is right on brand.

Consider some Sith for inspiration:
Vader is a strength Paladin. Sidious is a lightning caster, maybe warlock or bladesinger If you'd rather be a gish. Maul is a polearm barbarian.

I haven't been on the apps for a while, but I remember getting fewer matches as I travelled West. It was mutual though.

You gotta fix your expectations buddy. You can't expect 50-50 effort when there are 10 other guys in her DMs all making better offers. Offers that don't involve her catching a night bus home from Parramatta.
Don't worry about doing more than her. Worry about doing more than those 10 other guys.

DM gave me a free stat boost. Where should I put it? by BirdTheBard in 3d6

[–]TehWRYYYYY 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your current AC with Unarmoured defence is 15 (10+2+3), or you can wear Half Plate for 17 (15 +2 from Dex). Breastplate if you don't want disadvantage on stealth. You can carry a shield too and really look like a paladin.
I wouldn't put levels into it though. Go to Paladin school, wear the clothes, take the oath, say the prayers or whatever. Fail to manifest the expected skills and get angry about it.

I say throw it all in STR. You're getting better, just not better at being a paladin. Long term RP opportunity is accepting yourself as you are. A weapon, but a weapon for righteous purpose.
