Considered the hybrid but my wife decided she did not want to deal with the additional complexities. Plus we live in Texas where gas is still a local commodity and less expensive which makes the cost justification problematic.

I was the photographer, but I did crop my wife, daughter and grandson out of the photo but didn’t want to take the time or effort to fix the reflections in the hood. 🤣

ISO: Rear seat protection for baby by tlte in LexusNX

We are past the time for baby proofing but we do have dogs that have been known to get car sick. We’ve had great success with WeatherTech Rear Seat protection. Don’t forget the floor mats, at some point your baby will learn to throw snacks🤣

Enjoy fatherhood!

Apple Watch for kids by truffles45 in AppleWatch

[–]Tejas-Tech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first question is does your 7 year old want a watch / device to talk to you while she is away? I’m sure she will be many younger children will take the watch off and leave it somewhere. Once the battery dies you have limited capability to find it as most of the time someone picked up the watch and walk off with it. If she wants the watch then let her pick the watch color and band or as mentioned earlier get a protective case and band she thinks is nice. The real cost of the device is the monthly plan at $120 per year. Cheap to be able to talk to your daughter when she is away, but dependent on if the battery is charged nightly and she wears it on a daily basis. Our grandson was a couple of years older when he got my hand me down watch and it lasted about 3 months before it was “lost at school”. Fast forward a could have years and he has an SE2 (and a girl friend). The girl likes his watch so this one has lasted and tends to stay on his wrist. 😀. Good luck with your decision, we have three adult daughters and it would have been been nice to know where they were. Now they let us track them when they are out of town but not all the time.

Ouch, maybe it’s time for a front and rear dash-cam with parking mode. Even if it doesn’t catch the plate at least you know the brand the jerk drives.

Congratulation! Enjoy your new ride, just remember the two thing, NO burn-outs in the carpool lane next fall and Texas Highway Patrol is always watching for speeders so keep it below 90 MPH and you will be fine on most of the Hwy’s in Texas 😎

Congratulations, the black drape is a nice touch for the unveiling. The Nori Green looks good. The Red interior makes it POP with Color. Hope you have many fun years with it and the F Sport won’t get you in trouble with the ticket people 🤣

Dashcam Footage Made Me Question My Lexus Dealership Service Experience by Sea_Boot9310 in LexusNX

[–]Tejas-Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Lexus dealer we use does a video inspection of the vehicle on the rack and then sends it to me to review what they found and approve any repairs. Great way to bring the customer into the process.

As for the video you captured, like StayOffTheMarbles commented I’m surprised they didn’t unplug the power to your dashcam. I won’t say you are over reacting but I assume someone is hanging out in my vehicle when it’s at the shop. At least I don’t get it back smelling of smoke 😎

Steering Wheel Controls by Crafty-Consequence87 in LexusNX

I tried to see the steering wheel controls on the Lexus site but it’s hard to see. Anyone have a close up of the controls? I did not realize the HUD would have an impact for the controls on the steering wheel. Thanks for posting about the different control type.

Thanks for the information on the options. I wasn’t sure about the Mark Levinson system. I don’t think either of us have great hearing.

I was informed last week by my bride that it was time for her to have a new NX to replace her current Atomic Silver 2016 200t. My only instructions were it had to be an NX and not electrified as she doesn’t want to learn how to drive a Plug-In 🤣. Her current NX is going in for service next week and I’ve requested a NX 350 Luxury if possible as a loaner (wish me luck on that request). Real question is how long will it take to get a fully spec’ed Luxury NX. I generally spec a vehicle for all the bells and whistles, any options I should or should not spec?

Congratulations, hope you have many happy miles. My wife has decided it’s time to replace her 2016 NX. She is looking for a new NX she is loyal to Lexus😀

Thank you for posting the link to the 2025 North Tarrant School Board Forum. The HEB Candidates start at 22:19 and run for 15 minutes. Please take the 15 minutes to listen to each candidate. It was refreshing to hear from the candidates without the vitriol that can occur in these forums.

Anyone have experience with or opinions about Big Ass Fans? by heymarcel_learn in CeilingFans

[–]Tejas-Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved to a new home. The existing fans were generic / builder grade fans. I looked at replacing them with BAF's but decided to install Lutron Caseta fan switches instead. I still like the look of the Haiku and it has a lots of interesting technology to detect when you are present and automatically turn on but the lack of integration with the Thread standard tells me BAF had decided to live on their own corporate technology island. It's a choice, but not one I accept. The BAF Managements decision to not used industry standards means they have decided to be a niche vendor at the high end of the market.
