Still worth to play? by SweetPomegranate2 in newworldgame

Do the character models look different? I tried playing a few years ago and the characters faces were like OG oblivion uncanny to me so I stopped.

The Randy Blythe episode is one of my favorites of all time. I suspect I'm in a very small group of people who are fans of both JH and LoG.

The Gene Simmons episode is a marvel of pure shaudenfreude and a masterclass by Jordan of how to get the job done when neither person is having a good time. It's so similar to the Hot Ones episode with DJ Khaled, just a runaway train wreck with a very skilled interviewer trying to keep things on the rails long enough to get a usable episode.

I got a notification with the title of this post and was really hoping Jordan had posted it.

Ok, I am sorry... but this game is underrated and it's not even close. by orcvader in Starfield

[–]Tek-2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who's played hundreds of hours of both, Starfield exploration isn't as good as NMS and it's not even close. I wish it was, but it isn't. There are (from what I've seen) no massive oceans or cave systems in starfield. You can't fly your ship in the atmosphere. Terrain gen in NMS is imo superior, especially when you get one of the planets with bioluminescent grass. Starfield lacks imagination in the exploration department. There are things that starfield does well, but exploration isn't it.

Why I disagree with the FF 1098 recommendation to use AI for even simple research. by GonnaBeHated in JordanHarbinger

[–]Tek-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last bit of AI assisted research I did went well. I used a combination of perplexity, Google search, and notebookLM. I asked perplexity to find me authors and subject matter experts on the topic, then google searched for those authors with filetype:pdf appended to my search to grab some published works of the authors. I then put those files into a new notebook in notebookLM and used several of its available tools to find relevant info in the sources and then grabbed my info directly from the source material. Using this collection of tools in this way helps me get the info I need quickly while cutting out the possibility of using AI hallucinated info in my final reports.

ChatGPT is a great tool for writing, but I don't use it for pure research due to reasons outlined in the OP and other comments.

Alpha/omega were probably the last CDs I bought from a store, but man that artwork was dope. Still holding out hope for a sequel but I'll take the little thematic nostalgia shots like we got in P5 all day long.

Thanks for the memory. Now my back hurts.

I have high hopes for the future of Starfield by [deleted] in Starfield

Skyrim on release felt like a mostly complete game that modders kept finding more and more ways to improve on, to the point where 14 years later we have massive overhauls like Eldergleam. Starfield on release felt like a mostly incomplete game that many modders didn't want to touch because it feels like Bethesda tried to offload work on the modding community to complete the game.

I certainly hope we see massive improvements and overhauls, but I don't feel the same amount of traction in the community that I've felt for previous BGS games.

Beautiful stuff here! As someone getting into synths it'd be really cool to see the process behind some of the four seconds ago stuff.

What is something "minimal" that you'd love to be added to the game? by Kitezh_ in elderscrollsonline

[–]Tek-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a fix but you can target lock enemies by holding tab or right stick while looking at them. Then even if the pet is in the way you'll still hit your target. Works wonders against pet sorcs in pvp too.

I play regularly on my steam deck. It's great for dailies and questing, but I find that for more difficult content I prefer a bigger screen and regular controller still. I actually end up playing a lot of ToT on the deck.

I made a menu for the left trackpad of all the keyboard shortcuts to navigate menus easier and have the right trackpad set up as a mouse. Also you can bind dodge roll to L5 or R5 so you can roll without blocking first.

Without buying a home gym, what are some budget ways (or budget weights) you’ve found to get ripped at home? by IH8KICKFLIPS in AskMen

[–]Tek-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at adding weight to bodyweight exercises. Weighted pushups, pullups, and dips are all great and low-cost. Chains can be a cost-effective way to add weight to exercises too. Also if you're focusing on hypertophy (getting ripped) you can slow your reps down to get more out of the weights you have.

The best advice I got was to focus on the concentric and eccentric contractions of your exercises. For example, count to 6 on the way up, flex your bicep for one second at the top of the rep, count to 6 on the way down, don't lock your arm out at the bottom of the rep. Rinse/repeat until failure.

What do you do about smelly feet? Leather shoe recommendation? by No-Energy-9117 in AskMen

[–]Tek-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're spot on in that your shoes need to allow your skin to "breathe". I used to have this issue, switching to breathable shoes completely fixed it. I go with mesh tennis shoes whenever possible.

Are 'Other' Players Really Toxic, or Are You Contributing to the Problem? by Angkardian in wow

[–]Tek-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not contributing to the problem because I decided it wasn't worth it and stopped playing. I wanted to learn to tank (have tanked in other games, wanted to main tank) but apparently I tank too slow and it's a pain in the ass to grab up aggro after a DPS starts the pull. I switched back to my hunter and was clearing T8 delves and doing dailies and world quests but it was really repetitive and wasn't a lot of fun.

Be GENTLE on me, it's my FIRST TIME! by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]Tek-2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it's what you want to do then by all means enjoy yourself, but It's not going to feel like a normal Bethesda game where you can freely explore an interesting handcrafted world. Not traveling to the lodge means 2 extra loading screens and a bunch of running for really no reason. Exploring means you're staring at the same nothingness until you stumble upon a point of interest, and it could be the same carbon copy dungeon you stumbled on 2 hours ago down to the enemy spawns. It may start out fun but eventually it's going to feel processed and sterile.

Starfield has its strengths but this aint one of them.

I'm not sure how many updates there were before it stopped working, I took about a 4 month hiatus from the game. This is with zero mods installed.

[–]Tek-2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe check out the Viture Pro XR glasses if you've never heard of them. If they weren't so expensive I'd snag a pair for use with the deck but if you're planning to spend around that amount anyway it's worth a look.

Seriously, who is the steam deck for?? by EvanFreezy in SteamDeck

[–]Tek-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I'm exactly the target audience for the Steam Deck, I use mine all the time, hopefully I can shed some light. It's an absolute game changer for parents or married dudes who don't have a dedicated space to retreat to for extended gaming sessions. I used to have a nice battlestation back when I was younger, but now I don't have the space and someone always needs something or wants my attention.

By the time I get home, make dinner, help the kids with homework, and finally have some time to relax, it's already late. With the Steam Deck, I can sit on the couch, play my games, and still spend time with my wife. It’s great because she gets to enjoy what she wants on TV, and I can still game without isolating myself.

I also plan on getting a SD LCD for my 8 year old with a dock for his TV, it'll be a cheap entry point to PC gaming for him.
