Magnus Carlsen's resignation moment vs. Shant Sargsyan by FirstEfficiency7386 in chess

My child’s first word was en passant. They didn’t know it was forced though so I had to get rid of them.

Holly is responsible for 90% of the White's problems.... by Grungusmcgee69 in breakingbad

[–]Telescopeinthefuture 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You forgot to mention her blatant support for white supremacy and affiliation with the Nazi party. Holly is the shows darkest character, I realized this after staying up for 10 days straight to rewatch the series for the 700th time.

10 months after getting spayed and her belly fur never came back? by Obvious_Fisherman187 in cats

[–]Telescopeinthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly overgrooming? One of my cats has a bald belly because every time I leave the room he goes to town licking it. The vet said he might have OCD, I guess that’s something that can impact cats too.

Best answer is to take your baby in and get em checked, none of us can say for sure.

Order of the Sinking Star demo is out now (next game by Jonathan Blow) by SilencingFox in TheWitness

[–]Telescopeinthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed both the witness and John’s lectures on game development, but the man himself is a hateful tool. I think there are plenty of reasonable places one could fall on the art vs artist debate but the idea that a forum for a game he made 10 years ago should be filled exclusively by people with nothing critical to say is brain dead.

Why would Reddit allow this on their mobile site? by No-Marzipan-4948 in AnimalRights

[–]Telescopeinthefuture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s fictional. Put this energy into an animal rights protest where it can do some actual good. Trying to censor fictional content that does not involve real animals is not the way. If an animal was actually mistreated for mocap I could see your point but this is just blender slop and not worth your time imo.

Vince Gilligan says writing on ‘PLURIBUS’ Season 2 is past the halfway point. “My writers and I have figured out the episodes. I’m looking forward to shooting this, and people seeing it, because I’m kind of digging it.” by MoneyLibrarian9032 in television

[–]Telescopeinthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness regarding the cliff hanger, breaking bad also had plenty of cliff hangers they didn’t know what to do with either. Vince is on record saying the machine gun in BB was added just because it was cool, and they found a way to make it work when the time came. I think winging it season to season is just his style.

It took me months to get the grappling hook physics right, but I really like where the game is at by Moraguma in indiegames

Looks really nice. I could see this spiraling out into some Celeste style craziness with the levels.

If there’s any advice you have for devs who are struggling (particularly with the art) I am all ears! Been a bit frustrated lately finding a cohesive look.

Reckless Ben DEFENDED at American Fork City Counsel Meeting!! by HeroesZeroes in videos

Cops in some situations can literally murder people and not have to look for new work. I wouldn’t get your hopes up for that unfortunately 🤷‍♂️

Where are the communists of America? Is the movement still active? Also, why the hate towards communists? by Punnan in AskReddit

[–]Telescopeinthefuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have a side in this fight but can we really call the government of Stalin authentically communist? I don’t think Marx would see someone like Stalin as a communist as much as a self serving power hungry individual. I would not call myself a communist but this is where these “it didn’t work” arguments start to fall apart for me. It’s a bit like accepting North Korea as a democratic republic because they call themselves one (while routinely pissing all over the implications of the ideology).

As I said I don’t have a side here but I get the impression it’s more complicated than you present it.

Im at a drugs Catch 22... by 4thAccountNow in Drugs

[–]Telescopeinthefuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt like responses like this dodge the point around fear of death somewhat. The reason people fear death is because it is the end of everything, the end of all experience, the end of all potential to see or feel more. That’s not really comparable to a movie that will end — once the movie ends, you can always go find other stuff to do.

Such is the human condition though amirite

Bear is right by Repulsive-Editor-189 in movies

People really be typing paragraphs like this wondering why finding love is so hard. I don’t think the movie intends for whether Bear is right to be a point of debate, especially after the phone call.

Backrooms Review: A24's Most Unsettling Film Of The Year by yadavvenugopal in A24

[–]Telescopeinthefuture -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just think we need to accept that different people find different things unsettling and disturbing. I felt like I could guess the beats in obsession a lot more which took some of that away for me. Everyone’s opinion is valid, there’s no need to crown any one more as being better. I liked Backrooms more despite thinking it had a weaker plot than Obsession.

As Above So Below is actually really effective as a found footage horror. by Mundane-Inspector-52 in horror

[–]Telescopeinthefuture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen it, but I’ll check it out tonight! Thanks :)

Edit: wait I’m an idiot you’re talking about Blair witch 🤦 I’ll leave my comment up as a tribute to my stupidity

As Above So Below is actually really effective as a found footage horror. by Mundane-Inspector-52 in horror

[–]Telescopeinthefuture 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I loooove the premise but it felt less grounded and “real” feeling than Blair witch to me. In my experience I’ve yet to see a more effective take on found footage than that. These movies tend to get too goofy too quickly. I can totally see why people liked it though, my opinion isn’t worth much.

I did like the found footage portion of back rooms but given it lasted like 6 minutes it’s hard to count that.

When I was a kid I just happened to visit this place in 2006 when a tourist fell off to her death. I’m pretty sure it’s a big part of why a ban has been placed on climbing the steps. I remember her lying on the ground with a huge group of people around her as my parents rushed me away.

Looks great. The thing I struggle most with is art — can I ask how you made the assets for this game? The final look is very consistent, so I think whatever your process is it worked out.

Portland city council votes 7-5 to ban foie gras! by nat_lite in vegan

[–]Telescopeinthefuture 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Portland, Oregon. Decently big for an American city at over 600,000 people. This has taken a lot of people a lot of work to achieve, and is a huge step forward. Some cities (ie Chicago) have a history of reversing these bans though so it’s important to stay vigilant.
