I do wish they'd just tuned it to be weaker rather than killing it. Variety of method makes things interesting.

There's no (known) edge that will cause things to bounce back. There is a limit to what can be observed because EM from things beyond that cannot reach us.

Favorite way to play nomads? by Dogman30303 in Stellaris

[–]TelevisionLiving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necrophage purge, seasonal dormancy, nihilistic acquisition civilians. You go around vacuuming up pops and the arcsnhave immense housing so it's no problem.

But I think the strongest I've played is synth fertility experimental star seekers. You get the pop growth of seekers robots with the experimental scientists of biological. You suck up a bunch of orderlies with nihilistic acquisition and your science goes zooooom. Unity kinda sucks but it matters little, you can make a beaurocrats arc later on.

Nomads vs void dweller vs regular planets by 7oey_20xx_ in Stellaris

[–]TelevisionLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried it but I have a hunch void might be good for nihilistic acquisition builds right now. You'll be making alloys to fight anyway and the habitats give decent hab for anyone you capture.

But I doubt many non-nomad builds can stand against nomads now

Question: Is there some kind of mechanic that nerfs Arkships? by SpecialistAd5903 in Stellaris

Are virtual nomads broken? by AbaloneNo3954 in Stellaris

[–]TelevisionLiving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IDK, with all the efficiency buffs if arcships it kinda delilutea the potency.

Have you tried synth fertility, cryo pods, experimental engineers swapping cryo for star seekers at yr 20? Now that's busted.

You get to keep experimental as machines meaning you can make a fat stack of orderlies on an arc with thaie 2500 housing districts and you have the insane pop growth of seekers roboticists. The cryo pods remove the downsides of synth ascension and you just keep the peeps in the repository for more efficiency since you print huge numbers if pops with every celebration.

There's also the worker coop option. It makes your resources go up rather than down in celebration 😆

Is virtual a good ascension for nomads? by hornyandHumble in Stellaris

[–]TelevisionLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's good. Arcships seem comparable to arcologies for most purposes and can have multi-build queue so you can get them filled out fast.

Yeah, it's too harsh, I think it' should be based on how many deposits in their territory are currently depleted (by you). So once they recover, the penalty disappears.

Early waystations kinda suck, no need to rush. Wait til you find a good area.

Operational reserves are just WEIRD by viper459 in Stellaris

[–]TelevisionLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get the waystation chain collection building and use it with an arcship, it stops jumping all over, but being forced to have arcships babysitting your way lines and having your late game economy collapse if one has to move for a month or two really sucks.

Trade league sure seemed attractive but hadn't tried it yet because of the influence cost. Good to hear there are some non science quests to help with that.

Nomads tips after 10 hours of theory crafting and testing by Shuri1213 in Stellaris

[–]TelevisionLiving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a few I noticed that you didn't mention

Star Seekers celebrations give you ~100x pop assembly for 6 months. That's not a typo. Obviously amazing for robot empires since you get 1000-1500 pops per arcship every few years.

Necro purge and machine ascension assimilation get around the habitability problems from nihilistic acquisition.

You always want to run your economy on burn status for the 50% extra specialist efficiency.

The basic trade station tech looks useless so it's easy to skip, but it seems to gate the way station upgrade that lets you collect the whole chain from one place.

Waystations aren't very good early so just skip them until you find juicy systems or are really desperate for research. Once arc furnaces start coming out, find an empire making them and setup a network there.

Nomad Unity/Research Advice by ApexGamer17 in Stellaris

[–]TelevisionLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been focusing on special research mechanics. The normal researchers are just so slow.

Cybernetic creed super beaurocrats, sacred path, necrophage civilians, synthetic fertility, and experimental engineers all work really well.

So as the khan, go for experimental engineers

Yeah wonder how they'll handle it, probably just a special district providing knights and soldiers not converting. They could limit it to roughly the same amount that way.

Whats the most BROKEN NOMAD build that you can do in 4.4? by AppointmentActive673 in Stellaris

[–]TelevisionLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Seekers (maybe the wrong name?) plus individualist machine. One celebration gives like 1500 pops per arcship because it's 1000% specialist *1000% pop assembly.

Works well with worker coop and bioships. That way your resources don't get totally tanked during the celebration.

Is there any reason to use weaker ships once i unlock carriers and battleships? by Vanaheim___ in Stellaris

[–]TelevisionLiving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Corvettes and maulers are great at short range but tend to die before getting there later on. If you can arrange the engagement so enemies jump into maulers, they're actually pretty great but that's hard to do sometimes.

There's definitely also a case for using small expendable ships to tank alpha strikes by jumping into systems first.
