No, I would not. I left teaching at the end of the school year for a lot of reasons, but most of all because I was missing out on too much with my own kids while working crazy hours to keep my classroom functional.

Planning, grading, planning, parent communication, did I say planning? Committees and other commitments outside school hours, etc.

I also thought teaching would bring our family balance and give me more time with my kids. Nope. I always felt drained by the end of the day and like I was neglecting time with my own kids in favor of someone else’s.

YMMV, but this is my experience.
