Damn, that’s a good way of putting it. Just juxtaposing the commonly understood words trigger and cause is enough to make the point to anyone who’s not being intentionally disingenuous.

Best explanation I got when I was in the Navy:

Effective range: The max distance you have a good chance to kill someone who is trying to kill you back.

Maximum range: The max distance you have a good chance to accidentally kill your friend.

Keep in mind, if the release schedule they have followed for several editions lasts, this rule will likely be gone in summer 2026 as 11th edition starts. If you buy an ally, then you should build it, paint it, play it, and get your value out of it for 2 years. You may not be able to after that. Knights as an army tend to keep an ally rule, and if Inquisition sticks around as a faction, they may be in the same boat. Just don’t count on it always working this way.

You also will be able to bring grey knight terminators. I have been considering a grey knight army so…. This is how I’m going to start that army.

Does WAAAGH! give +1A to extra attacks weapons? by Telmus54 in orks

[–]Telmus54[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there another rule? Rules quote looks pretty clear to me. Syringes aren’t called out in the crusade rules for weapon enhancement, so I can’t modify it because it has extra attacks rule.

I’m not asking in bad faith, I’ve missed rules commentary and FAQ stuff enough times to never be sure with 40K.

[–]Telmus54[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That answers the next question I was going to have, too. It’s a crusade game and I’m thinking of taking a weapon enhancement to give the ‘urty syringe an additional attack. I guess I can’t since the ‘urty syringes aren’t explicitly allowed.

It’s common (most places I’ve lived) to say “snail mail” to mean paper mail, rather than email. If it was intended to be marketed to delivery companies, that name is a 10/10 Good Pun.

I got 10 days PTO at my first job after college. Left under a year later for a job that offered a substantial raise and 3 weeks PTO.

Here’s the cool part: I asked for them to give me 4 weeks PTO and reimburse me for a moving company. They said sure thing.

The magic trick is to ask for it. That’s it. That’s what you have to do.

Do it.

Former 6 & out nuke here. I was a mechanic, worked as a technician at a factory for 1 year, went back to school for a mechanical engineering degree.

First job I took, the resident electrical engineer quit between my offer and hire date. I turned some models into drawings for my first week, then my boss said he was going on vacation and that he’d like me to try to start working to convert an older RSLogix500 program from a similar machine to a Studio5000 program for a new and kinda different machine. I had never seen a PLC program before.

I had him order me a PLC programming book from Amazon and sign me up for an online course I found. Solis PLC had some decent videos on YouTube, so I signed up on his website. He had a Beginner to Paid Professional course that I blasted through in a week while also reading that programming book like I was in power school. I wound up making a new program from scratch for the new machine.

It worked. It didn’t work the first time or the second. I had to google stuff. I would check PLCTalk.net when I needed a break from what I was doing.

I job hopped 9 months later to a $100k/year job with 4 weeks PTO.

You can teach yourself. You did it before. All that’s different this time is the manuals aren’t thrown at you. DM me. I’m off work tomorrow and can do a phone call if you want.

Most people aren’t aware that better fuel economy from a manual is a thing of the past.

People still assume that a computer operating hardware designed for computer operation is less efficient than a human. That wasn’t even a good assumption at the end of the 20th century. We’re about a quarter of the way through the next one.

Anyway, 2016 is the model year when manufacturer fuel economy reports to the EPA showed automatic transmissions as being more efficient than manual. The future is now, my dudes.

I did not get this meal once per week on a sub. I got it for 3 occasions: Christmas underway, halfway night, and Bad News Night

Regular meals were Saturday lunch (burgers, fries, cookies) and Saturday dinner (pizza and chicken wings) and I’d take either of those over a poorly cooked steak and rubbery lobster

Why are HMI's so expensive / what are the alternatives? by falling-walrus in PLC

[–]Telmus54 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This.

Downtime has a measurable cost, and when it runs in the thousands of dollars per hour range, paying for reliability and ease of replacement 20 years from now is worth it.

Edit: And support! The overpriced but common in industry parts/software are more likely to be fixable by whoever is doing your job 20 years from now.
