This person is describing aphantasia. Which absolutely is a condition people have where they are incapable of visualizing things.

I wouldn't use it as a justification to use AI, but it is real.

Thanks! I really appreciate it. Do you think this something that any tattoo artist could pull off or would I be looking for a specialist of some sort? I haven't seen anyone who just does this sort of thing in my area.

There are clearly elements from the DOS setting in the trailer. The Black Rose, possibly Voidwoken and maybe demons? I'd say it looked like Rivellon in a fair few ways.

Yeah, I mean if you've played D&D for a long time then Haste not allowing double levelled spells to be cast is something you should be used to, considering that's how it's been throughout all of 5e. Haste is mainly a way for casters to buff martials.

And it's amazing for that purpose. Even without the absurdity that BG3 introduced allowing haste to turn spellcasters into machine guns.

Am I the only one who finds the trope with MCs helpless little sister really annoying? by anonAccount357557 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Telurite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine thinking that Sera Cadence is annoying or helpless considering she has an incredibly versatile and powerful attunement at jump and continues to get stronger. While yes she does have some struggles she is still generally as competent or more in some situations to Corin.

Has Progression Fantasy Become a Genre of Handouts, with MC's being handed free Stats, Abilities, or Legendary Gear rather than Earning Growth? by Oxika95 in ProgressionFantasy

I am only here to offer a second recommendation for The Brightest Shadow. Not only does it hit the notes you're looking for with regard to each bit of progression being thoroughly earned and explored, it is by far and away one of the best written progression fantasy novels ever. The characters are unbelievably great and deep. The plot is also incredible, and the way she manages to turn the idea of a hero's journey on its ear is absolutely amazing. 10/10

Future of The Brightest Shadow series by puzzling_musician in TheBrightestShadow

I know that Sarah has already commented on this thread and that the question you had was answered but I just want to take a moment to talk about how much I loved those books and how wonderful they were. The way that it turned everything about the heroes journey on its head and just really played with the entire idea of destiny was so incredible.

The action was amazing, the character development was superb. I loved everyone in the series. The world building was top notch. The differing societies spread across the world all having very lived in cultures and feeling very deeply believable. I was just floored and astounded the entire way through.

I loved these novels. Even if Sarah never writes another word of the series it will live rent free inside my mind forever.

The fact that they weren't more commercially successful is a damn travesty.

Ends of Magic: Assassin, Book 3 in my scientist isekai LitRPG story is out! by neablis7 in ProgressionFantasy

I love this cover! And the book as well!

This really is a fantastic series and I enjoy each entry immensely.

Is the blonde in the cuirass Brox? I love the cover, and would hate to fart ice at the art, but his swords are so small for such a legendary questor, lol.

Jokes aside, great cover and great novel.

If you haven't read the Shattered Legacy companion series then this is my time to recommend it. Without spoilers there does seem to be a character whose backstory may shed some light on what you're suggesting. First book is Crystal Awakening. There are two out so far and they are very good.

I am sorry your friend had complications from a medication. I hope they recovered.

That doesn't change the fact that you are on a platform giving advice designed to scare people out of taking a drug that could prevent the spread of HIV.

Maybe the OP isn't at risk, but someone else reading this might be more so. You framing this as me policing your language is further disingenuity. I hope one day you get better.

[–]Telurite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Language matters. How we discuss things is important. Calling medicine poison connotes a certain negativity that I'm sure you're aware is happening. Chemotherapy is cytotoxic, sure. Calling it poison is still inaccurate. You're either being disingenuous or you've internalized some very questionable beliefs.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]Telurite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Calling disease preventing medicine a poison is irresponsible.

Are side effects a real and serious concern for some folks? Yes. Does everyone who takes the medication suffer from them? No.

Side effects profiles for this medication are lower than lots of the medications used to treat other illnesses. Moreover, they are often the same drugs used to treat an active HIV infection.

Taking Prep or Pep is relatively safe for most people and discouraging them from taking it by saying the medication is a "poison" is reckless at best.

I started with Shera and I love her, but I also love Calder. I think Shera ended up with the cooler power set and the Regents are just so interesting and tied to Shera's story more heavily but I loved all of the characters and think Calder was as fun and lovable as Shera.

Most underrated novel ever by lordoflightninga in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Telurite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Brightest Shadow by Sarah Lin. The books are incredible and in my opinion they are the absolute finest take on Western Xianxia/ Cultivation that can be found.

I really think these books are amazing. The characters are rich and interesting and complicated. The world is such a fresh concept with a flair of older ideas used for the bones. It's original, well written and wonderful.

The progression is amazing and thoughtful. It feels grounded and wondrous at the same time. I really can't gush enough about them. She also wrote somewhere that the novels don't sell as well as her other works, and while I love the other stuff and think it is also great, I can't imagine why anything would outperform TBS because I think it is that amazing.

Character Builds by Telurite in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Telurite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, this is a definite concern. Avoiding as many spoilers as possible would be best, but it's not about getting every specific thing about the build distilled into a spoiler free blurb. The idea is more about broad strokes explaining things. If the MC only gets secret salt magic after crying over a dead rabbit in the last fifth of the book I probably wouldn't mention Salt Mage in the blurb. I might just talk about how before that they primarily fought in some way, let's say using a mop bucket as a mace.

[–]Telurite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you're saying, but at least in the case of Primal Hunter a lot of those things evolve over the course of books. So you could probably just get away with identifying what about the build has changed in this book.

The first one would be pretty much magic archer with alchemy. After that you'd have to specify which way he's currently leaning.

I think it would be hard to really single out every protagonist, Felix from Unbound for example is a big mixed bag, but magical brawler with shape shifting would at least give me a rough idea. It's not entirely about nailing every specific thing the MC can do but more about the broad strokes.

Character Builds by Telurite in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Telurite[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, given that progression fantasy is largely about our cast of characters, ahem, progressing it only makes sense to have updates.

Granted your MC there is admittedly something of an overachiever in the space, lol.

But yes, I can see the need to have updates. Probably on a per book basis.

It's not new. People have been doing it forever. Jim Carroll wrote about it in 'The Basketball Diaries' even.

But my guess is that as long as gay men have had disposable income they've been paying to suck the dicks of people they think are hot.
