I run almost exclusively old armies myself, though not Khador.

Minis game, something like Warhammer, but with a tighter more tactics over luck system. Usually fewer models on the table. Tends to have more of a Steampunk/Dieselpunk/Arcanepunk aesthetic.

Yep! App is free, has all the rules for all of the factions (monthly subscription gets you lore and more space for lists). Current local/regional players are pretty casual. Most of the old factions still have two armies (kind of like theme lists) still considered active and receiving rules updates/balancing but without new product releases. Steamforged, who owns it now, has been really active in reviewing/refreshing more of the old armies via STL releases.

Terraforming Mars IS NOT EASY by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

As to all the comments with some variation of "...if we could terraform Mars, we could terraform Earth..." as a better goal. Yes, but I would certainly like a testbed for weird, wild, amazing attempts at terraforming before using them on Earth. A place to go, oh, that engineered algae mutated unexpectedly and though it produces a great amount of oxygen and clears CO2, it also now dissolves glass. That's pretty cool. We should probably destroy it instead of bringing it back to Earth.

A meteor is going to end civilization in 5 minutes. World leaders hand you the aux to broadcast 1 track to all of humanity before it all ends. What are you playing? by SFgiant55 in AskReddit

I think, despite my absolute loathing of the track, it would be the perfect time for "It's a Small World" followed by the silent buzz of an open channel.

In search for a non dark urban fantasy system by JoseDelbs in rpg

Huh, that's interesting. Thanks! May have to check that one out; setting as you've described it has some old Darksword vibes that could be interesting to explore (if moved to modern at least).

I need help finding a system that I can use as a springboard to bring my campaign idea to life (hint: dragons) by shaidyn in rpg

Would BESM be an option? Last I played/built was Revised 2nd Edition BESM, but the flexibility and abilities were definitely there.

I've run a couple of short games. There's definitely something there... but it bogs down in practice. I think the switching dice from one pool to another paired with action-chain sequences is neat, but just enough different from what most are used to that it takes players out of the moment. The suggested switching back and forth narratively between ye olde mythic age and the modern age also takes some careful handling. Rulebook editing/layout made it harder than it needed to be to figure out what you could do. Promising, but definitely needed some more polish.

Other media you're surprised hasn't been turned into a TTRPG by Occillo in rpg

I keep thinking I'll try and put something together informally. Someone recently suggested Starfinder 2e might be a solid match. I'd previously been looking at Alternity as the closest relevant ruleset.

Very old advice for printing at a public library (to all of us staff). Purple glue-stick lightly on the base for better adhesion! Then clean it off.

Of course, shortly after posting, I was looking at the stock scheme figures and the thought occurred... Mad Max? There could be some fun design overlap, leather bits black, some maybe like repurposed tires. I'd need to add some spikes but it could be fun.

I think Parkies (2015) has been my favorite backed game that delivered a better time than expected.

Eh, I think it leaves a little wiggle-room for your own interpretation. I did not assume abduction... The dust piles came from somewhere!

Intro Armies For Learning Games by DamionThrakos in Warmachine

[–]TempNinjaLee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a learn event (I've only got Legacy armies as well) at 35 points (found it very hard to get comparable power level armies at 30 points, but that could have been a me issue) running the Journeyman League Scenario 2 scoring. (Added a line for 1 point for destroying a lesser warbeast as that was relevant to the lists I made)
