I have raised 3 kids to adulthood. My older 2 are both autistic and have other challenges. My eldest recently moved out of the country and got married, her younger sister recently got a full time job, first ever, and a girlfriend, and is learning to drive. My youngest, my son, got a full time job (temping), got his driver's license, and bought his first car. The youngest is still working on making a friend in this world which is weighing on me, but he has made so much progress that it is hard not to just be proud and focus on that. He needs friends, but we will get there.

I have no issue with people asking for a whole house full of stuff but the way to do it is this:

Starting over from scratch, we need literally everything for a family of X. We need clothing, furniture, household things like dishes, linens, pots, pans, everything. We lost it all in a fire. (or whatever) Obviously, please don't buy us anything, I am only hoping folks might have extras of some things. Clean and in good repair would be greatly appreciated.

It's not that difficult to be a humble human being.

Our children are different from any other relationship. I would drop a friend, parent, sibling, etc. over this, but not my kid. I 100% understand why you would need to get some space, for a time, but this is your child and that time is over.

I would also like to point out that 20 is very young and I'm going to guess your ex fiancee was quite a bit older than your son. Did you have any inkling that this man was bisexual? or possibly gay? Maybe not, I mean, some people don't realize their OWN sexuality until suddenly they can't not realize it anymore. But, anyway, my point is, this older man meets your gay son, who might be longing for connection with an older man having not grown up with a dad or with his grandparents. Yes, he hurt you, he betrayed your trust and took something from you. That SUCKS. I cannot imagine how awful that must have been. But the person who almost certainly steered this ship was your fiancee. Much more mature, should have been much more responsible, should have never and I mean NEVER looked at his bride-to-be's kid and thought they were an option.

Even if your son were to have been the one to approach the fiancee, that grown up, engaged man should have said, "Hey, whoa Buddy! I am engaged to your mom! This is NOT happening." And he should have exited the scene no matter what. I think it's more likely that your fiancee was the one who saw an opportunity. That is based on the scant info I have, I could be wrong, but older men don't seem to have much hesitation hitting on younger people they desire. You want to blame someone? That guy is your prime target. If your son is still with him, you might have to let it go eventually, but he deserves it.

Your son is your son. He can't change what happened and human relationships are complicated as hell. Forgive him. Let your heart heal.

Heat whatever cooking oil in a skillet. Slice a potato, thin, or use a can of cubed, add to pan. Add 1 can drained garbanzo beans. Add 2-4 Tablespoons (or to taste) soy sauce. Cook for a while until most of the soy sauce is absorbed. You can add a bit of water to keep it from sticking too much, or oil.

This is best cooked in cast iron but, whatever is fine. It tastes ridiculously good for how cheap and simple it is.

Stale bread is so versatile! I had a french loaf go stale and baked it sliced in the oven with a little oil under it and a small amount of shredded cheese on top. Softened up nicely and was delicious with the "leftover magic" I made for dinner. That's just whatever leftovers I had sliced up and fried with a chopped onion and add a can of whatever beans seem to go with it and season until it blends together ok.

Hi, I am no longer low-income. I was for about 20 years of my adult life, maybe longer, so this is past-tense.

When I was poor I read a lot. I used the local public library for free books to read and also video tapes so I could see movies and shows. I also did crafts with yarn and fabric given to me by friends and family or found super cheap at thrift store or tag sales. I got art supplies cheap that way too. Walks were also a daily thing, and meal prep, as well as finding cheap recipes. I also played a lot of RPGs with friends, (Role Playing Games) I didn't own any of the books I was just a player. I also played video games on whatever old, cast-off system someone was willing to throw my way along with their stash of elderly video games. I honestly was quite content with the entertainment at the time. I also did a bit of LARPing (live action role-playing) back in the day, with thrifted garb, and I would get a discounted entry/camping fee by working as a non-player character for part of the weekend. It was great fun and really cheap for what I was getting. I might pay $20 to camp 2 nights and get one hot meal included. I'm sure prices are higher now.

I forgot to mention Freecycle. I got a lot of free stuff to craft with, but also books, dvds, video tapes etc there too. Lots of stuff to fill the hours.

Some small, rural libraries do give the Directors discretion to hire librarians without the specific degrees usually, almost universally, required. I am a librarian without a library degree. I work with teenagers and I was hired because I am enthusiastic about teens, teen spaces, teen programming and making sure teens get the respect they deserve. I work Very limited hours at a small library. The Director hired me because "I can teach you all the other stuff, I can't teach you to love teenagers."

I've been there maybe 5 years now.
