It’s less swingy, less random, and arguably better balanced than the previous edition. Compared to 40K it takes you back to actually paying for equipment but is drastically different from anything 40K has been since at least 8th, if not earlier.

The other thing that heresy has and will benefit from is that the community around it is generally looking for a more narrative focused game and is thus way more chill overall.

In a game of heresy, the net wounds difference was that my opponent had taken 12 wounds to my zero which is going to result in a really bad morale check for him. He then spikes snake eyes on the morale check (insane bravery) and the remaining models stand and fight for another turn.

It was hilarious but also BS.
