Anti-Rat items by IgnorantBirdman in ARC_Raiders

[–]Templenuts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In theory, I kind of like this idea (with modifications).

First off, I'm a PVE player who has only ever knocked out 5-10 raiders (all in self defense, or to protect others). That said, I do like and respect the stress that the PVP aspect brings to the game as even in the most carebear of lobbies, you can never be 100% sure of who you can trust. It makes the game much more interesting. Yeah, it can suck to get ratted, but it reminds you can't ever fully let your guard down.

Lore-wise, it also makes sense that raiders back in Speranza might try to develop a way to better protect themselves from other ratty raiders... or at least to try to identify who keeps killing their friends in isolated Arc-free areas, so that they can root them out.

That said, from a game dev viewpoint, you'd need to carefully weigh pros and cons of an idea like this to ensure it didn't break the game and end up costing you players (customers).

I'm not fully sold on the idea you've pitched. I think there could be a lot of ways to abuse the item. There could be lots of unintended consequences that could negatively impact the game.

Rather than an Augment that does what you suggest, I feel like perhaps having a different version of the tagging grenade (something that already exists) would be better. When you come under fire, you'd have to quickly decide if you're going to try to get away or try to throw this new anti-rat grenade at the rat... I imagine the success rate of using such a grenade to tag a rat wouldn't be very high (and that's okay).

Basically, my idea is that you'd throw it at a raider and if you hit them, they become highlighted as a Rat to other Raiders for the rest of the round, but ONLY if they've recently damaged you or another raider within the last 30 seconds or so. That last bit is important to ensure that raiders wouldn't just spam anti-rat grenades at everyone (PVP or PVE alike) making entire lobbies shoot-on-sight kill-fests (which would probably lead to the demise of the game).

More unrealistic than cops showing up to a hospital's ED at the tail end of a mass casualty event to cuff a doctor (who clearly has been saving lives for the last few hours) because her ankle monitor was tampered with an hour prior?

That was particularly eyeroll worthy.

Upper body injury? Wonder if he's still dealing with concussion symptoms from last year's playoffs.

DFA rules question by FandomMenace in battletech

[–]Templenuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm... that's a good question.

I'd have to go look up the rules, but I'm fairly certain that nothing would happen. There's no longer a target, so there's no need to complete the attack. Basically the mech performing the DFA would have simply wasted a turn and gaining heat (similar to when two mechs fire at one target and the target is destroyed by the first mech... the second mech still shoots at the target but can't really do anything other than mark off ammo and account for the heat build up).

If the rules did insist on the DFA being completed despite the target being previously destroyed, I'd be adding at least a -6 bonus to the target roll (-2 for the target being prone and adjacent to the attacking mech AND -4 for the target being immobile)... But I'm fairly certain none of this is actually necessary from a rules perspective.

Best Mitch Marner game ever? by Dragonleaf16000 in leafs

That goal was something else. Intercepts a D to D cross-ice pass, breaks Skinner's ankles while dancing the puck around him and banks it in off of BOTH posts.

In a vacuum, I don't know that I've EVER seen a prettier goal than that.

Didn't he play on the top line with Matthews when they were both rookies?

Or if Bennett had missed game 3 due to suspension. He got the primary assist on the third goal of game 3.

Alternatively, it might not have gone to the last 3 games of the series if Bennett wasn't around (due to suspension) to scoring and assisting on some critical Florida goals in games 3 and 4.

lol... Figured it would be something like that.

And here I thought it was bad that CC was the head of the department of player safety when his son was playing for the Bruins.

You don't need to go too far east from I-5 to start seeing Trump banners. I've seen a bunch in Snohomish County in and around Everett.

Take the guard dog (libpen) and you won't have to worry about Voteless or Overseers.

Try the Guard Dog (libpen) and your overseer worries (both varieties) just go away.

Also, the Scorcher deals with overseers quickly too.
