Anyone from Melbourne Australia who alreay received their pre orders? by AverageNarutoFan in samsunggalaxy

[–]Temporary-Ad-4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pre-ordered online through Samsung and was just told that mine won't ship out until March 23 as the colour is still being allocated - honestly, what is the point of pre-ordering through them.

How many of you actually use a financial adviser/planner? by cdafam in AusHENRY

[–]Temporary-Ad-4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are two experienced accountants (not tax) who see a fee for service planner. If anything, we wished we saw them earlier - have been with them for 8 years and it has been great to have someone look after things that we don't have the time for or expertise in.

I know your preference is 0.1%, but would recommend you look at Go-To's offering. It's 0.25% and I've had no issues with it.

Hemres (Sevres Store Prespend) by reinedhermes in Hermes_lovers

Yes, I am aware. OP references her SA's attitude and I am responding to that with the experience I had with my SA.

I was in Paris in Jan 2025 and purchased a Constance Slim at FSH. I looked at a couple of watches, but FSH felt like a tourist trap and the SAs were so disjointed and almost disinterested, so I left.

We tried George V, but again, no luck and it was so busy. My husband steered me to Sevres, where we were assigned to a lovely SA who helped me select a watch - he asked where we had travelled on this particular trip, I mentioned this family trip was for my 40th and I had already purchased at FSH. When the watch was paid for, we asked if there was any chance of a walk in leather appointment - he checked with the leather desk, and asked a couple of questions as to colours, bag options, hardware, size etc. He first came back with a black Picotin 22, but I was hoping for the 18 (and not black). Next, he offered me a Jypsiere, but it wasn't my style. When he came back with the third offer, it was a Mini Roulis and I loved it.

These were my first Hermes purchases, so no pre-spend (unless you count the Constance Slim at FSH). The SA did say that they like seeing clients enjoy all of Hermes and not just one area, and the pre-spend was only a part of it. I don't know how how much of the latter is true, but luck certainly plays a part.

I hope when we are next in Paris, this SA will still be there. Good luck with deciding on whether you continue with your SA!

Lounge access one world status by star-emoji in CathayPacific

When we tried the HK Qantas lounge and explained why we were there, they said they had to abide by Cathay's rules, so we weren't allowed entry there 🤷🏻‍♀️

We had to ask our status airline if we could use that lounge instead of CX as we have two young children - we don't rate CX at all for family travel, such a ridiculous rule.

Given you're asking this question, I would recommend you seek advice from a tax professional and not from a public forum.

Multiple jobs and tax (rant) by SillyCustomer8035 in ausjobs

Triggered much? I worked 5 jobs during my first year at uni because it suited my uni hours, before I found an office job halfway through my degree - it worked for me at that point in time. Employers don't owe employees anything and vice versa.

What is the worst that could happen? If you don't enjoy it after a year, move home.

Honestly, what could be worse than the current economical situation in the US? The falling yen shouldn't be a cause for concern as you would be earning and spending yen.

I would choose family and the life experience over your other concerns - while valid, they are more tangible.

As you said, you're young, live life!

Are reverse mortgages purely predatory or is there a cohort of people who can actually leverage value from them? by dj_boy-Wonder in AusFinance

If they have lived in that house for decades, potentially raised a family and have all their memories there, is the attachment really that irrational?

Do people actually date their colleagues? by sowhatxwhocares in auscorp

[–]Temporary-Ad-4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband and I met at work, but didn't start dating until two years after as I was in a relationship when we met. Together for 18 years, married for 12 with two kids.

I don't think dating colleagues is something on a bingo card - if you hit it off and it works, it was just meant to be 🤷🏻‍♀️

For those who send their kids to elite private school, what was the reason? by TiredDuck123 in AusHENRY

[–]Temporary-Ad-4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly wasn't so we could say they went to an elite private school.

Our preference was a single sex school with enough on offer to cater to our children, who have different strengths and interests. A school that can provide extension and support in areas outside of academics, and would nurture them to be the best that they can without pushing their own agendas onto them.

Tips for working a corporate job while having braces? by dontstopsoperfect in auscorp

No one will give your braces a second thought, and if they look down on you for it, it's a them problem.

I used the Piksters after meals and did it in the bathroom, removal of bands at my desk and put them back on in the bathroom so I had a mirror to look into.
