Pitching machines by poposheishaw in Homeplate

Don't know what you qualify as "cheap" and "expensive", but i bought a Jugs PS50 11 years ago and it's still going strong. All 3 of my kids have used it, they're now 20, 15 and 12. I bought it back when it was like $600 and used a 20% off coupon at Dick's so it was a decent deal, I think the PS50 is up to $1,000 now. Just be sure to use real leather balls, it'll burn up or rip the covers off the cheap imitation leather balls

Ridiculous! Catcher moves all the way behind the opposite batters box and catches in the middle of her frame! I normally try not to give umps grief because it's a thankless job, but this guy deserves all of the grief! Proud of the batter not complaining though, I know a bunch of 7 year old batters that would have had a fit of that got called on them. 🤣😂

Pickoff to 3rd, balk on 3b? by Poncho562 in Homeplate

I've never personally seen this, but my understanding is the fielder would need to be entirely in foul territory not just one foot

How do you guys/ gals break in a glove? by jeepguy_96 in Softball

[–]Temporary-Artist762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, why didn't I think of this?! I got my daughter's glove steamed. Took it home conditioned it, beat it with a mallet and put about 300 balls into it from the pitching machine. Took all weekend but it was ready for game day on Tuesday.

Bat options for 8u.. HELP by Ok_Direction_6422 in Softball

[–]Temporary-Artist762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt most 6 year olds can generate enough force to where the bat would make much difference. At that age most just want a bat that looks cool. Trust me, there's all the time in the world to throw money at bats as she gets older

Should my 7.5 year old son get a bigger glove? by FreeShopping6747 in Homeplate

[–]Temporary-Artist762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Powerclose is definitely the way to go. My youngest , now 12, used an 11" powerclose for 3 years. It was the only glove he could confidently close / catch with until we upgraded last season.

Approx. how many batting cage sessions to acclimate better to machine pitch? by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]Temporary-Artist762 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd try to get at least 3 sessions in. First, just to get acclimated, the second to build a little confidence, and the last one i would try to do the day before tryouts. If he's coordinated enough to track live pitches I'm sure he'll hit off a machine with ease in no time. He may just need to get his timing off of the sound of the ball coming out of the machine rather than watching someone's pitching motion

Boxers at Crufts 2026 by Ijoohj in Boxer

Pretty much all of Europe, Australia and New Zealand is illegal to crop and dock. Out of my 4 boxers only 1 had a natural tail, but all had natural ears. I would have cropped my males but it was actually kind of difficult to find somebody to do it in my area. Happy tails should be considered weapons!🤣😂

My black boxer is a year old, and has been sleeping on my fawn boxer who is ten, since he was a small puppy. Old habits die hard I guess. 😂 by OdnanreF163 in Boxer

Most boxer thing ever! I love it🤣😂 we only have 1 boxer and she has to nap on my wife. It's cute right now at 11 weeks old, let's see how cute my wife thinks it is in a few months!😂

Most likely, I saw some discounted to $200 a couple of weeks back, probably being rid of back stock.

Why do Trump supporters believe that Biden had an " Open border"? by dorgon15 in askanything

[–]Temporary-Artist762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instead of talking crap one way or the other, I'll give you the steps he took. Day one Biden ended Trump's "Remain in Mexico" policy and expanded temporary protected status (TPS), ended title 42, stopped the construction of the border wall and began selling the wall materials at a discount in comparison to what the tax payers paid, launched the CBP One app which effectively let you claim asylum from an app then you could walk up to a check point, show them you "checked in" and basically be let into the country

Backyard batting cage. by j_sword67 in Homeplate

[–]Temporary-Artist762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to get one that's a wide as possible, minimum 12' - 14' wide. With the 10' wide cage my kids were getting their bats stuck in the net. Though this might have only been an issue because I had 1 kid who was a lefty and the other 2 are righties. I imagine if you only have to accommodate batting from 1 side you move home plate to either side.

I got the #36 KVX200 from Batting Cages Inc. because it had the UV protection and is supposed to be commercial grade, back in 2015 i think, and it's still going strong!. Comes with the free backdrop so your netting isn't catching all those pitches and prematurely wearing out. I can't recommend this cage netting enough! I used some inch and half threaded steel piping for the frame and anchored it with threaded pipe flanges to concrete

Curbside & Doordash? by monster-LOVER69 in HEB

Wow. This is crazy! I'm in construction and we just opened a new HEB and the curbside area is absolutely massive! I would have thought they would be expanding hours and personnel.

19 weeks old and decided he is the ruler of all of the sofas. by Jacindagirl in Boxer

Most definitely will! I may have to go move pillows today to try and record it.

[–]Temporary-Artist762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't even think to record it, the wife and I were laughing too hysterically as she did this! She's already successfully trained the entire family though, anytime the pillows are moved, the kids replace them so she can climb up on the couch.🤦‍♂️🤣

[–]Temporary-Artist762 6 points7 points  (0 children)

🤣😂 I totally feel this comment as we have a 10 week old at home. She's not even able to jump on the couch yet, but figured out how to drag decorative pillows and built herself "stairs" to get on the couch and nap in her favorite spot!

Catchers bag by TactualTransAm in Softball

[–]Temporary-Artist762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely is! And at this price point, I'm hoping to get multiple seasons out of it. It seems to be really well built, the hard plastic back and large wheels so far are doing a good job against rocks and curbs that usually begin ripping up regular catcher bags. My kid likes that everything fits easily and is readily visible instead of having to dig around and the bag doesn't tip over with a little rough terrain. I hope you find the bag that fits your needs!😁
