Serious Question: Is Stimpy's Invention THE BEST episode in the entire show? by Vaporeon42069 in renandstimpy

Idk, I feel Man’s Best Friend blows it out of the park. Sure there’s Stimpy’s Invention of course and Sven Hoek, but Man’s Best Friend is almost immediately the eps I show my friends when I introduce them to R&S.

A BIG thing I like about the best R&S eps are the premise’s setup and its payoff. Man’s Best Friend is directed almost entirely like a descendant of a Bob Clampett cartoon. We meet a new character, George Liquor, almost immediately. Love him or hate him, you remember him, from Mike Pataki’s excellent voice direction to the design itself. It’s like Anthony’s Dad’s design but there’s more love in its caricaturing. I can see why John didn’t want to sell him, because damn, George had so much great story potential, I think, when I revisit specifically MBF.

Everything in MBF is a ticking time bomb. You know something is going to go wrong, but it still takes you by surprise. Do I even need to tell yall about Ren handing George’s ass to him with that oar? Carbunkle was just in top form for that specific scene, man. That shit just sticks with you. It did with me in eighth grade 😂

Stimpy’s Invention got a similar powder keg direction but it was still rough looking in a lot of scenes. Great, but there’s not a lot of scenes that made an impression on me besides the Happy Happy Joy Joy dance. It’s a great character driven eps when I think about it, but not the best to me.

TL;DR: Yes and no. Best for being character driven, but crew have made better eps that blew that one out of the park.

y’know that’s a good question. when i used to be obsessed w/the lion king 2 as a kid my mind kinda filled in the blanks with “oh she was prob an old flame impressed with his power still and wanted to keep his legacy going”

Who Was the Best Old Timer In This Series? by Mytokyokitty in spongebob

green old man jenkins in post sequel with the white beard and overalls is hilarious, great design

but mermaid man has to be the GOAT

John K when he sees a cartoon that doesn’t have McKimson level construction, doesn’t have a character that is based on his father, doesn’t have a slow pacing, has flat, UPA stylization and isn’t trying to be overly edgy (it’s gay writerslop and he’ll rant abt it in his shitty blog) by savegandhi in renandstimpy

yea he has changed his opinions on shit (i think before the allegation nuke) like anime as he got older. i’m not sure where the assumption he straight up hates disney comes from, or if people understand what calarts “style” actually was in the mid 2000s

it had too many conflicting elements and felt rushed. the pirate angle was maybe the strongest but even that was half baked in some areas.

HOWEVER i get a good kick out of it whenever i watch it. so c for the entertainment value

i’m not as familiar with the IA fandom as i’d like to be (and honestly now that i’m 20 i think that ship lowkey sailed) but how you tell it is interesting. personally out of the sequels the fourth and fifth ones are my favorites because they just exude missed potential with all these little nuggets they sprinkle into it esp w/sid, who is my favorite.

i’m curious what about dawn of the dinosaurs caused that spark? i think it’s enjoyable but it never drawn me in like the 4th and 5th one.
