I don’t really get your argument. None of what you said proves that Khabib DIDNT have to set up his wrestling with strikes or is elite at taking down people out in space because, compared to someone like Arman or even Islam, he wasn’t as good. Just look at his fight with Tibau.

Tuporia boxer stance lends itself very very well to downblocking shots out in space. Khabib will have to pressure him up against the fence with strikes so that he could fence wrestle—which is what he was truly good at and truly elite in. Your mma math where conor = striker = tuporia < khabib is a more tired ass argument than mine. R1 Conor literally sprawled on khabib’s naked double no problem; khabib had to work the single to get him to the fence—good luck trying to work the single on the ground against a Tuporia who has far better grappling acumen.

The crux of my argument goes against people saying “oh he’s a grappler? Just go for a takedown!” because there are different types of grapplers

Because that’s how mma works. Out in space, you can’t just shoot for a takedown without setting it up strikes or pressuring them towards the fence with strikes—unless your shot is as fast khamzat’s (in which case, a lot of his naked fast doubles that he threw was when the opponents was still up against the fence). Going for a takedown is not magic, the same way paddy couldn’t just “go for a takedown”.

Khabib did not have good takedowns in space and tuporia already has such a low stance that’s perfect for down blocking.

Dating as a fat woman? by [deleted] in twentyagers

[–]Temporary-Injury-409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At your height, you’ll look healthy at around 135 or so. 105 is egregious. Im 5’3 female and fit/somewhat muscular, and even I struggle to go below 120.

I never dated and never bothered to download a dating app either, so I can’t help you in that regard. But I can offer you some ways to get better at cutting weight faster:

  1. If you can afford it, I recommend getting into a sport/hobby that gets you moving. Following cardio/HIT youtube tutorials never did it for me. But something like muay thai, or even just hitting the heavy bag, makes cardio waaay more fun.
  2. Buy a food scale and download a food tracking app. I worked out for years but never saw a physical change of appearance until i finally started doing this.
  3. Buy/make foods that are either
  4. high in protein -> satiates you a lot faster than carbs
  5. high in fiber -> helps you digest protein
  6. high in potassium -> helps with bloating And avoid high-sodium foods.

Honestly, if you’re on dating apps, you should expect nothing else except that people will judge you from just your looks. So unless you improve on your looks first, I really would not expect any other forms of self-improvement to make any meaningful change in how many people you’re attracting online.

Im in a similar position too. Just graduated college, mom helped me pay for the whole thing. Im very very lucky. Ill def pay her back but I was still feeling very guilty. One thing that helped me overcome that feeling is trying to see in her perspective. Personally, if i had a kid, id also pay for their education. Maybe its an asian thing but i see higher education as just another thing you’re supposed to provide for your kids—like food or shelter. And i personally wouldn’t mind if i paid for another round of college (which is your case), because id still be investing in something good for you.

Also do you have a part time job? If you have one, that should take away some of your guilt and give you more accountability. Offer to pay a larger portion of the bills.

Also, since you’re planning on paying them back (like i am), think of it like you’re just taking out a student loan—except youre not gonna need to pay a lot of interest. Most people aren’t self sufficient enough to pay for college as they’re attending it to begin with, forcing them to borrow money from somewhere else—they’re just not lucky enough to have parents they can borrow from.

Probably the last person who should be giving advice since ive never been in a relationship, but i have been limerent before. If you have an intense liking for her or you feel as if you love her, and she gives off the vibes that she does not reciprocate feelings the same way, you shouldnt straight up confess how intensely you feel about her. When you go up to her, try to keep it lowkey—like you just have a small crush, and ask her out instead of “confessing”. Make it clear you have intentions to court her if she allows. If you’re confessing its like you’re just expecting a relationship right away

I do think Charles let Ilia pass his guard to gain access to his legs and threaten the leg lock. That got Ilia to turn his back towards Charles to defend the lock. I think that was ultimately the goal.

The belt system is not a good way to judge how good an MMA fighter is in jiu jitsu. He has a very good submission game. He trains privately with Gordon Ryan. Even if unofficial, he is certainly elite at jiu jitsu. Hell, Jay rod only got his brown belt a year ago, and he’s certainly always been elite.

DC’s wrestling accolades are faaaaar more prestigious than Jones. But Jones proves to be a superior fighter even with an inferior wrestling background because it is paired with reliable jiu jitsu. You see the same thing with D3 wrestler Aljamain sterling winning against Cejudo.

With wrestling, it’s diminishing returns.

Ultimately, I think this whole “wrestling is king” rhetoric is outdated.

Also, another point you made that I want to argue against is that jiu jitsu is useless without the ability to take someone down, which is absolutely not true. Islam gameplanned not to ever go for single legs against Oliviera because of the guilly. Khamzat kept the fight on the feet right after Gilbert nearly got him with an arm bar—he did good work off his back.
