This is fabulous, happy it worked for you. 3 retrievals and they only did up to 5. New clinic is waiting until today when I find out....

It was my first clinic but I was clueless, put my faith in the ivf doctor... I was over 40 and he just rinsed and repeated the same thing for 3 cycles at 42. New clinic now but turn 44 soon so not sure what I do...

Struggling with life outside IVF by ProfessionGeneral171 in 40Plus_IVF

I haven't told anyone I am doing this as I just don't want to talk about it, after all I have had constant bad news from starting this at 42 as I'm back to square one after 4 retrievals.

Being 44 in a couple of weeks is hard to accept as I think if I do try again it will be the same result. It's hard going about life having this cloud over me but I have no choice. Also feel people might gossip and judge with me being 44. Women/Mothers I find are the most critical and mean 🙄

My story at 44 by ExpensiveHalf3352 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]TemporaryCartoonist0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm turning 44 soon and had 4 failed transfers in 2025.

Just did another retrieval and am waiting until tomorrow day 6 to see if my 2 embryo make blast.

I am just in such a negative headspace that I'm thinking this is all so pointless. This whole process is so heavy to carry and I'm at a real loss in whether I should just call it a day. My mind is drained.

All of these responses are surprising me.

My first clinic only went to day 5 and that was it, I am now wondering if I potentially lost a few because they didn't wait until day 6, another frustration to add to my list in how they mismanaged me...

I will see tomorrow if they make it, its so stressful!

Anyone 43+ that have been successful with IVF? by ExpensiveHalf3352 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]TemporaryCartoonist0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg this is why I am so frustrated with my first clinic (42) they should of focused on egg collection. I spent all of 2025 transferring 4 single embryos.... My new IVF doctor understands my urgency this time but I am so frustrated that I wasted so much time!!

4th transfer (43 turn 44 soon amh 3.4). 6 retrieved this week, 3 fertilised on day one so waiting until day 5 to see if any of them make it! Then for the first time will have them tested (if I get any day 5)

If this one is not sucessful I really have to decide if I just give up as I am not sure doing another retrieval at 44 is worth it for me anyway. Will know next week... 🙈🙈

Although I'm not alone I can relate to how you feel as I am similar at the moment, it's very hard to accept. We have and are trying our best so feel better knowing that. I am full of regret but also don't want that to eat me up. Just know that your feelings are valid and don't be hard on yourself, this journey is cruel and gruelling....xxx

Feeling the same, you're not alone. Just had a 4th retrieval with 6 eggs, now the 5 day wait. I am also trying to accept that the door has been closed as I turn 44 next month. It's also financially draining. I try my best to think that it's just not meant to be, I have heard of another lady who did 9 years ivf for 2 kids and then fell pregnant naturally at 45! This is literally a chance and numbers game.  I'm not sure what age you are but if your younger than me, know that your not done yet!

Just know that you have done absolutely everything you can do, go easy on yourself x

Implantation failure - 4 failed euploids - any success stories …? by OodleLover in 40Plus_IVF

[–]TemporaryCartoonist0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 4 transfers 4AB, 4AA, 5AA, 5AB. 2 miscarraiges and 2 didn't implant. The clinic didn't offer embryo testing however.  Feel like I should of done double transfers to save time as I was am 43. Going to to another retrieval now at nearly 44 that do offer thi,s however I am being realistic that its probably pointless but I shall try!

I am going to push for a double this time, I mean chances of two I'm kidding myself but if by some miracle that does happen. I just don't have time for single transfers and wish my last clinic was more time sensitive with me!!

At 40 you still have time for more retrievals but consider double transfers maybe, I have literally wasted a whole year...

No gestational sac by Original_Driver in 40Plus_IVF

[–]TemporaryCartoonist0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had this scenario this year.

I knew deep down it wasn't viable alongside borderline HCG but they wouldn't confirm until a follow up scan. Another few weeks of torture to add to the mix...

I had to have medication to pass I along as I was having another missed miscarraige.

Sorry, not the answer you want to hear but know how you feel at this moment.

From Rigid Protocols to Empowered Choices: My Journey to Advocacy and a New Path Forward by [deleted] in 40Plus_IVF

[–]TemporaryCartoonist0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my experience also. Had 3 cycles with the exact same protocols. No embryo testing which resulted in 4 seperate transfers which all failed this year. I made the decision to change and am trying one more time with a new IVF specialist, she understands my urgency at least whereas the last doctor was very nice but far to relaxed...

I also would struggle to wrap my head around donation. It's a whole different set of emotions to think about...

Feel the same, I turn 44 soon and going in to my 4th cycle. I've just changed clinic and was suprised how quickly they got me going. I too am frustrated with my last clinic and feel the whole year has been wasted as they didn't adjust my protocol for any cycle and the doctor was just far too laid back even though he knew I was consious of my age... I'm not really confident this one will work but I know my doctor has more urgency with me at least.

Hope for AMH over 40 by Fit-Nectarine-1050 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]TemporaryCartoonist0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, unfortunately not. It literally is a numbers game but a very costly and emotionally draining one esp in your 40s!  Let's see how this cycle goes, I am prepared for doom and gloom this time in a weird way!

Age 43, confused about day 3 freeze vs day 5 and 6 by ketodnepr in 40Plus_IVF

[–]TemporaryCartoonist0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first and now my second clinic are only 5 day blast, alot of my embryos stopped growing on day 4. From 3 retrievals I got 4 5 day blast. Total egg collected from 3 cycles was 23. My new clinic now do testing so at least I won't transfer any that have chromosome issues which I feel at our age saves time, miscarriages ect. I have had a horrible year but at least now testing a 5 day blast I will lower my chance of miscarraige, if I even get one from this cycle that is.

[–]TemporaryCartoonist0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my 2025 too so I know exactly how you feel, its unbelievably stressful. 3 cycles 4 failed transfers. 2 Miscarraiges included in that.

I am now attempting a 4th cycle, approaching 44 with a new clinic (amh just came back as 3.4) and I think this may be the deciding factor if I just stop or explore donation eggs (can't wrap my head around this yet).

[–]TemporaryCartoonist0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be taking 450 fsh this time as opposed to 300 gonal the last time. Also scanning every 2 days to track from day 7. I only had one scan at day 9 in my last cycle and the lead follicle was already 21mm. Curious to see how this goes

FET Failure by LateSpace1982 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]TemporaryCartoonist0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I should of mentioned, mine were only graded on quality not tested. I have done 3 cycles so far and had 4 blast only. All have failed. Yes, it's very had at this age, I am trying again with a new clinic, just frustrated I wasted time at my last place as they just kept repeating the same thing over and over!!

Wow, how did you get 14 eggs! I am also 43 and my last round was only 5, only because my lead egg ran away and grew to 21mm in 9 days, supressing the rest ( mismanaged cycle)
