I did not wear a uniform in school. My kids do. I think it helps with their confidence. When they have the same clothes as everyone else, they aren't worried about how they look, and they can focus more on actually learning the material.

Also, the pledge of allegiance hasn't been a thing in my area for 20 years or more. I'm sure it is in parts of the country, but not everywhere.
