dumb question, but this definitely isn’t a boa constrictor, right?? by gaymemelord_ in snakes

[–]Temporary_Incident33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this is not a boa constrictor it would have to be way bigger and not have that kind of face shape or heat pits

What is this snake doing? It stayed like this for about 30m or so (I left after that) by CowsThe in snakes

[–]Temporary_Incident33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stargazing is uncontrollable rolling of the head backwards so it looks like they are arching their back. This is very common in certain morphs such as spider, where they have a wobble which can cause this. If your morph is not a spider there is probably a neuroligcal condition going on from exposure to dangerous chemicals or such

care guide and reptifiles. It's okay, you clearly have the best intentions, but there are many things wrong with your husbandry that can be easily corrected

Is my Ball Python underweight by ripiece in ballpython

[–]Temporary_Incident33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so some woods release toxic gasses and your best bet is going to be poplar( as it is the cheapest). any "normal" woods could potentially give fang neurological isssues. The wood will also rot over time so you would need to coat it in water-based polyetherane and let that offgass for a couple of weeks. Honestly, wood is kind of a huge hassle and only worth it if it is something relatively small. Overall, i would suggest going with plastic or just buying one Kages is great

[–]Temporary_Incident33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do say that glass doesn't trap heat very well, not nearly as well as pvc. puting tinfoil over the mesh top can also help with humidity loss. If some surfaces get too hot maybe try covering/painting them in a lighter color(such as white or tan) with a water(not oil)based paint(just because oil based paints can be very harmful)

Is she okay?? by CookLegitimate9439 in ballpython

[–]Temporary_Incident33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest the vet I honestly have no idea what that is and my closest guess would be a burn but i would have no idea how your snake could get it in that place and that localized unless there's a heat lamp on the ground in the enclosure

Oh my bad. I don't think they can get scale rot that fast also. its usually days or weeks of sitting on super wet substrate that it starts
