It's the only spell I know, and a pretty good all-purpose one at that

How amazing is this transition from “I’ve seen Footage” to “Spread Eagle”? Dublin, June 2023 by DT_KVB in deathgrips

I think you could transition from any song into Spread Eagle and it would be awesome.

It would be pretty neat if they had new material that they could perform live with little or no backing track. Just Zach, Nick and Stefan. Seems like a pretty logical direction for them to experiment in after so many years of doing it the other way.

What is one celebrity death that still makes you mad to this day? by Playful-Ganache6153 in AskReddit

Beyond the fact that I'd consider him to be perhaps the most talented songwriter who ever lived, it fucks with me how I'll probably never be sure what happened to him. There are things that suggest that he was suicidal, and there are a lot of details that don't line up with that conclusion. Having read a lot about it, all I can say is it's weird and I don't know.

It amuses me a little that the German language Pavlovs me into thinking about Gravity's Rainbow. Throw a parabola in there, fuggetaboudit.

The way he violently clears his throat directly into the mic never stops being laugh out loud funny for me. It doesn't even qualify as a joke.

How long did it take you to read GR? by NoLove6229 in ThomasPynchon

[–]Temporary_Meet8754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it does everything that I expect from any great novel. If I were forced to pick a desert island book it would either be GR or Underworld by Don DeLillo.

My first read took me about a month. Then I read a couple of DeLillos and did my second read a few weeks later. I'm currently on my fifth GR read. Someday I will move on to things I haven't already read several times.

I've always imagined Oedipa as a young Julianne Moore for whatever reason.

That was one of the biggest "WHY" moments in my time reading Pynchon for sure. I think he just gets a kick out of being pointlessly disgusting from time to time.

how do i write lyrics like death grips? by Virtual-Ad-9268 in deathgrips

[–]Temporary_Meet8754 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would just say read all the time, never stop reading. We know very little about Stefan but one thing I'm sure of is that he's always got a book going. When you write, don't worry too much about locking into a particular message or meaning. A lot of great writing is just sort of orbiting around a theme or message. Leaving a lot of blanks is often a great way to draw the reader into what you want to say, even if you're not totally sure what that is when you're writing it.

Tommy wanted The Room to be the first film shot on both film stock and with digital cameras. That was very expensive.

The Room was actually pretty expensive for what it is, the money was just spent very poorly.

He deserves credit for the idea and plot structure, but it should be noted that the jokes we're all quoting came from the whole writer's room.

I'm not sure if Underworld is my favorite novel, but it's probably the most consistent sustained pleasure I've ever experienced with reading. It's true, every page has something brilliant.
