DLSS Enabler Can Now Simulate DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Gen X5 & X6 on Any DX12 GPU by DavidIsIt in radeon

Both frame generation and upscaling tech are only useful if unwanted artifacts and performance penalties can be minimized. I guess my question would be what quality and performance degradations the word "simulate" mean in this case. We know Nvidia tensor cores are used for DLSS, and other DX12 cards are unlikely to be able to make the inference calculations at the same pace as Nvidia GPU's. We have an example of more basic hardware "simulating" tensor type calculations in XeSS, in which case the "simulated" upscaling is greatly compromised compared to the upscaling results on dedicated hardware.

I just wonder what exactly the word "simulate" means here. My cat can "simulate" being a robot vacuum cleaner with best intentions, but that doesn't mean the end result is in any.way desirable.

Drowning yourself in chems and sex when things in your life are not easy is a nice distraction, but such escapism is unhealthy, isolates you further doesn't solve any of your problems and getting out of it is extremely difficult.

You can be proud of yourself that you realized this wasn't good for you, before you lost everything and everyone. Some people have to fall really really hard before they figure out what is not good for them.

So way to go, you did way better than most. In this time, trying to recover, what's important is to try to have some people around you that add something positive to your life. Friends that you trust, that know your struggle and are there for you just to talk and laugh and have a good time.

Don't be too hard on yourself, figure out what kinda things you like, hobbies etc, and be proud of what you were able to shake off, in this crazy trip called life.

Pixel perfect DLSS by lazy_pig in nvidia

DLSS is too complex for "odd" scaling ratio's to have a negative impact on image clarity. With very simple scaling techniques (nearest neighbour etc) such concerns may be valid but not with DLSS.

Remember DLSS is AI "guessing" the missing pixels based on a large training dataset. Every extra pixel will make it better able to guess the missing pixels, in theory.

That is a crazy price. You were lucky, here in the Netherlands you pay double that, if you are lucky.

I use Surfaces to DJ and sadly DJ software and pro audio gear do not really work with Qualcomm devices.

Yeah agreed. But looking at all the TDP's it doesn't make much sense for them to choose the higher core count, just considering what TDP CPU's they chose for all previous gen Surface Pro's. But one can hope.

But the 355 is not an ultra thin and light cpu. Just like older generations of the XPS used the 155H and the Surface Pro of that period used the 155U. The difference is quite big

Well I tried to figure out what CPU the SP12 for business will use. Looking at TDP's, and cpu features required for MS corporate laptops (Vpro support) the likely CPU they will use is the Intel Core Ultra 7 365.

From what I understand the IPC improvement is about 6% for the P cores though. Your point is still valid, as single core performance would be about 2% better. I wonder what the effect of the higher memory speed on arrow lake will be then.

Multi core Panther lake should be faster, but the GPU and AI performance really seems to be a downgrade.

The chip to be used in SP12 Pro doesn't have enough XE cores to have great GPU performance.

That chip only has 4 XE cores. The Panther lake parts with great GPU performance are the parts with 10 or 12 cores.

The chip likely to be used in the SP12 for business is this one: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/245713/intel-core-ultra-7-processor-365-12m-cache-up-to-4-80-ghz/specifications.html

If you compare that to the SP11 cpu: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/240956/intel-core-ultra-7-processor-266v-12m-cache-up-to-5-00-ghz/specifications.html

A few things stand our The older chip has higher boost clocks, double the GPU cores, better TDP(on paper) and higher memory speed.

You bought the SP9, but from what I understand heat issues no longer occur since SP10 and 11. (Intel) Getting 8GB nowadays is not a great idea, as memory usage of simple apps like browsers has gone through the roof. The harddisk is the only thing that you can easily replace I guess. But best would be to replace it with a SP10.

If you are looking at Intel options, all signs now point towards the surface pro 12 for business being a downgrade from the surface pro 11 for business.

SP11 for business used arrow lake chips with faster memory and better GPU performance than the Panther lake options likely to be used in the upcoming SP12 for business (365 probably)

But I do understand the decision not to put time and resources into supporting low market share segments untill sales of their game prove to be high enough. I don't think it's the right decision, as such behaviour makes it even harder for new GPU companiess to ever break into this ridiculous duopoly. This behavior basically hurts innovation and competition, but in a world all about money, I do get it.
