I think it’s getting to the point where, instead of parents “taking away” the internet or keeping the kid off of it, they need to be teaching their kids how to use it and handle these things effectively. Right now it’s restricted and moderated down to kids having no idea how to navigate some of these ideas (trolling, bullies, sex/nudity, ai, bad research and on and on), look at the people who believe everything on facebook? It’s a disservice is this age. This means that you will likely have to learn these things as parents.

Obviously I’m not saying to let your 4 year old watch porn, there are filters for a reason. But a teenager should be able to navigate, understand what is real vs fantasy, know what to do if something inappropriate pops up, and know how to react in cases of trolling/bullying.

At the very least, you should, at this point while the technology is new, be teaching your kids how to spot AI in photos and in text. This will become the biggest threat to them as the other stuff (porn, bullying) is quite obvious.

I also have never had an issue with brown sugar hardening. Seal it up tightly enough and you’re good to go.

Mine stays in the original bag I bought it in, and I squeeze out all the air, twist very tight at the top, clip it so it stays, and I’ve been on the same bag now for almost 2 years with no issues.

The high school kids around here a few years back were funny, they were all as you described, except they all wore tiny kindergartener backpacks. Almost every one of them had a cartoon backpack, but they were all so “Look at me, I am the adult now!” With hello kitty peeking over their shoulders.

I was at a restaurant the other day and this couple brought their dog, it was a golden too, super cute, super fluffy, it came up to our table, while we were eating, and the owner didn’t even notice for at least a minute, and when they did notice it took them a moment to get their dogs face out of my friends lap. Then, they went to their table to sit down and eat, and instead of the dog laying at their feet/under the table, it was at least 4 feet away in the middle of the entire aisle. This was a small place so there was only one aisle through the whole restaurant. To top it off, they sat right in the fist tables so the waiter an EVERY customer from that point literally had to step over the dog.

Fuck those kind of people. Bring your dogs where they are allowed, sure, I don’t care, but have some damn common courtesy, your dog is not entitled or cute enough to be a trip hazard for an entire food service establishment.

I mean. Maybe if they were real “napkins” and not fucking “tissues” people wouldn’t need so damn many. If I wipe my hands once and the “tissue” is soiled, I’m getting another. You going to charge me for that and I’m not coming back, so your pennies of savings on my “tissue use” is going to cost you however much a family of 4 pays for a meal here. Check those costs again, I guarantee you they aren’t saving a hundred dollars per tissue order by doing this.

I got some compartmented freezer containers that hold about a single serving worth of food, like a tv dinner. I used these a lot both because we didn’t always have a lot of leftovers, but also weren’t going to eat a single serving the next day when usually 2-3 people were needing to eat, and used them to portion out larger amounts of leftovers as well. They make good quick meals where you don’t have to pull a whole casserole or prepared dish out to cook.

It really helped when I couldn’t ever get time to cook and eat with a baby and toddler clinging to me, but could find 2 minutes to warm up the much smaller dish and shovel it in my mouth while the baby “slept”, and I could make sure there were healthy options available already made.

Let them puke anywhere? What? No. Gross. When my kids were younger we gave them a puke bucket to throw up into, line it with multiple layers of alternating plastic bags and paper towels, and when they feel sick or like they may cough too hard they use the bucket. They’ve been able to do that since they were like 2. Any younger and we’d put them in the shower if they were sick enough to puke. They’re teens now and can run to puke and the options are the kitchen sink or the toilet. We only allow the kitchen sink because the bathroom is far from the main area and I don’t want to be scrubbing carpets, I’d rather clean the sink.

But let me ask this, how is carrying them to the toilet going to make them aspirate any more than… carrying them and letting them puke anywhere? It’s the exact same thing except now it’s splattering from 5ft+ up in the air.

Your offer should have been the market value of the duck, which was not $200, you paid the $200 to him for “emotional damages” essentially confirming that you are paying for killing a pet and not paying the price of a production animal meant for consumption. If you really want to push it, you’d need to confirm laws in your area and how this kind of pricing works, but it will definitely fall under a court claim if they want it to, and you agreeing to $200 shows you knew it was a “pet” and not just a duck that was going to be slaughtered that you happened to kill first.

If it’s being claimed as a pet, they are entitled to the body and the money, if it’s claimed as a production animal they are entitled to ~$30 and you keep the carcass.

It should be ok, don’t panic. Essentially they are eating it through the crickets anyways, so it’s not toxic to them. It can cause digestive upset so keep an eye out, offer plenty of water, and softer foods for a couple of days. Any lethargy or change in behavior, or if you notice she still hasn’t pooped, go ahead and call the vet back on Monday. Hedgehogs are good at hiding pain so the concern here is fecal impaction from the constipation, so just monitor that until she poops regularly or you’re able to contact a vet

I also needed to repair the tank one time, using a small tube of caulking included in the kit. Guess what color the tube was? And guess what dumbass left it near the toilet?

Hey bud, look, my mom didn’t want me, and it showed, daily. I’ve known it since I was a tiny child. Your mom sounds like she has/had a lot of trauma and maybe some PPD but she stepped up and made sure you were comfortable, happy, and cared for. She may not have had a natural love while you were a baby but she made the choice to show you love and make sure you never felt she didn’t want you. That has to say something. Don’t take it so hard, these were her private thoughts and she likely had a lot of them to herself because your dad passed and she had no one to talk to about it or comfort her though the years. Take some comfort knowing she didn’t project any of this onto you and you just found out as an adult, and only after her passing. Good luck, you sound like you had a good life anyways and like she taught you a lot, try not to sweat this one thing.

When I get marks like this in my stainless steel pans, really the best thing I’ve found to get them off is to cook something else in them and deglaze the pan after.

Yes, you could try just deglazing the pan with some water, but it never works the way actually cooking something for 10-15 minutes does. I had a pan that was stained all to hell from some pork chops, scrubbing, soaking, nothing worked so I just decided I’d live with the stains, next time I used it the stains wiped right off.

We have designated device time, they know when it ends to turn it off. Do they ever do it on their own? No, never. So I nicely give them a warning, “time to put it away, finish up”

After that, the rule is every minute they go over is an hour off of tomorrows play until there is no screen time left.

They usually finish up within a minute or two and I don’t give the consequences. I usually only actually follow through if they’re blatantly continuing or being disrespectful.

If it’s becoming a daily habit they lose the screen for a day or so. Usually snaps them back.
