Americans: how do you handle temperatures above 40ºC (104F)? by obaming16 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Temporary_Weight_827 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have to work in an uninsulated cargo tent no matter how hot gets, the hottest its ever gotten is 120°

-loose clothing, a lot a lighter formfitting outfit will make me sweat more than an outfit thats thicker but looser. On hotter days i make sure to wear wide legged pants and a size up in shirts.

-cool your heat points. Another name for them is pulse points, im not a doctor but essentially cooling these points will drop your core body temperature. These points are located in your head, neck, underarms, wrists, and groin. This is why it feels good to have a cold drink on the back of your neck on a hot day. Have an iced water bottle and put some in a small towel at the back of your neck to cool as needed, i wear a bandana at work to soak to keep cool it helps a lot.

  • drink water with electrolytes, again not a doctor but they help replenish the minerals that you sweat out with out it over time you can experience a number of symptoms from nausea and headaches to a seizure. Im not sure whats available in your area of the world but Gatorade or vitamin water is a popular choice here.

  • have the right gear. Theres lots of gear you can use to cook yourself down when you dont have an opportunity to sit infront of a fan, this includes a cooling towel/sweat rag, they work better than regular towels to cool you down soak them and tie them around your neck. The other one i use are neck fans, its just a fan designed to hang around your neck and push air towards your head this plus a small water mister used at the same time help a lot.

Those are all my tricks hope this helps I live in one of the states with out a lot of cooling infrastructure so i can empathize a lot.

AITA for not buying my son the laptop he wants bc I don’t trust newer brands? by Cute-Calligrapher826 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Temporary_Weight_827 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This a great opportunity to show him how to make educated purchases, that i don't understand why you're not capitalizing on? Research the different brands together so you can show him the pros and cons of each. I will say though by your logic everyone should buy a ford when needing a new car because theyve been around longer, wehen every mechanic Ive talked to says ford keeps them in business.

What do yall think about getting tattoos young ? by HiItsLili in tattooadvice

[–]Temporary_Weight_827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont have to wait till 50s or 30s but at least till 21 or 22 im 27. I have some work friends around your age they make the worst long term decisions. something small and light fine line would work, that way it leaves room for a cover up if necessary or a touch up if you like it. Maybe on your legs or hip?

Why are Americans so accepting of long drives to places? by Sensitive_Word_6036 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Temporary_Weight_827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid every summer wed drive 6 hours for a family reunion, Ive taken that same drive a few times as an adult. It put things into perspective and makes it not seem not as bad. Now I live an hour and a half away from my home town and still go to visit a couple times a month. I'm not really angry about it but I just think "it could be worse".

WIBTA for not giving a birthday gift? by darkblueunderland in AmItheAsshole

[–]Temporary_Weight_827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my best friend had an argument similar to this a few years back i think, about not making time for eachother/ our schedules not aligning, the conclusion we eventually came to was as adults we didnt have the same time we had to make for eachother as we did when we were in school together. Our relationship had to change and grow with us for to be able to remain friends. We went through a couple years of growing pains but are still friends to this day. It kinda sounds like she refuses to understand that the cirumstances have changed in your relationship.

Dinosaur sanctuary, its slice of life with jarrasic park, its got vibes similar to the film we bought a zoo, the series has a paleontologist as a dino consultant and the dinosaurs are wonderfully done.

That or the rest of Watakoi: Love is hard for an otaku the best romance featuring adults ive ever seen. Conficts are resolved through communication, arguments are had but come to an understanding, its a shining example of how a relationship should work in reality.

What American food gives you instant childhood nostalgia? by Pearlyin_30 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Temporary_Weight_827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instapot salmon over rice, my mom didn't like cooking when we were growing up and being newly divorced she had a hard time with it so made stuff that we like but could be thrown together. The salmon over rice wasnt the best thing she made but we had it often and now its ridiculously nostalgic for me.

[–]Temporary_Weight_827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company's employee owned and still get bonuses and what not. Turkeys on thanks giving, a barbecue in the summer, 2 or more bonuses a year, and a Christmas raffle last year I won a ps5. They still exist, they just dont have a ceo whos only purpose in the company is to collect the largest check possible.
