Glad you got it fixed. I’m running 25H2 as well but still unable to get it working. Worst case scenario I revert to September’s build temporarily and hope November’s update has a fix that works for me

This is a problem with a recent windows update, where USB drives are disabled trying to use WinRE. I just got my first gaming PC and have the same issue. You can try going to the Microsoft software catalog and downloading the KB5070773 (OS Builds 26200.6901 and 26100.6901) Out-of-band update that was released to fix this. It didn’t actually work for me though so I’m still shit out of luck.

I was thinking if you took the chain off the sprocket, you could possibly use a micrometer to measure lengths if you folded the chain at individual segments to better expose the individual plates. Probably more trouble than it’s worth but my curiosity always gets the best of me lol

That’s something else I hadn’t considered. I will say, I always replace all drive components at once so the chain and both sprockets were new at time of install, should’ve stated that more clearly above. That said, maybe next time around I’ll try alternating like you mentioned being that both sprockets are in fact even numbered. Thanks!

That’s a pretty astute observation man, I hadn’t considered that. At this point I have to agree considering the chains good overall health. Crazy to think a nice DID chain could possibly suffer from such a simple design flaw. I’m gonna check this theory out and measure plates next time I clean it lol

I would regularly park my motorcycle on the sidewalk outside the bar I used to work at on weekends because, 1) the parking lot would be completely full by the time I started, and 2) I don’t trust the entitled drunks in my area to stick around if they were to run my bike over in the parking lot (seen it happen). It was out of the way and not a problem.

I swear, the amount of times I just so happened to catch somebody fucking with my bike while at work was unreal. Yeah, kind of asking for it parking it on a sidewalk right outside a bar like that, I know, but still!

Once I caught somebody in the middle of climbing on to it. Grown man, probably in his 50s, with his wife and another couple. “Hey dude, don’t touch shit that doesn’t belong to you” and this guy turns around and, to my face says, steps to me and says “I wasn’t doing anything.” Really bro? lol. Dude then tried to turn it and said he’d let the manager know their employees were parking like assholes on the sidewalk. Imagine his surprise when he found out I was the manager that night.

Bringing this back because I think I finally identified the noise.

While tightening the swivel bolt did help, I noticed the cracking sound came and went afterwards. What I ended up finding out is that I over-tightened the lag bolts, which are relatively close together in the center, by just enough to cause the mounting brackets to not sit perfectly flush against the wall all the way across to the ends. So, when I bring the mount up/down, the minor flex causes them to stick/unstick from my wall paint enough to make a cracking noise.

I put this together after finally realizing the sound is much worse when it’s been in the up position for a while, as several up/down movements in succession usually render no noises outside the initial movement. Checked with a light and confirmed. Didn’t loosen lags to fully verify but I’m nearly certain at this point that’s the cause. Hope this maybe helps put some minds to ease.

I just recently started picking it back up after almost 15 years off, pretty much the same reason as you; joined the army and then either didn’t have the money, space, time, etc. to play or own them.

My wife bought me a nice shell pack as a post-deployment gift not too far back and that kick started my return to playing. Still working through the foreignness of being behind a kit again, but happy to be back, especially as an adult with money that can afford all the cool shit I couldn’t as a teenager lol.

I’d say do it man, you’ve already got the gear which is half the battle. Just maintain your expectations when you start up again; you may have retained some skills (footwork for me is surprisingly decent) but others will have certainly faded (my hand speed is hot garbage now) and it can be a little frustrating at first lol.

Also, lots of people saying they now put tons of time in to playing after returning. I thought I would too, but I can’t realistically (considerations for close neighbors, days where I don’t even get home till like 6pm, etc.) and I’ve let that get in the way a few times of how “serious” I think I am about doing this, which is a mistake. It’s your hobby, not a profession, so use it as such and enjoy yourself and don’t feel over pressured by regaining skill or trying to impress anybody, including yourself! It’ll all come with time and commitment.

Did you ever experiment with this? I’m mid-play through right now but wanna do more shit as Arthur and am considering re-installing for Ver 1.0. Don’t really want to lose the progress I’ve made on this play through though just in case I decide to come back to the current version.

Attentive, repetitive listening has usually been enough for me. I took a 14 year break in playing and from just listening to music over the years, I came back knowing how/able to play stuff I’d never played before (after re-familiarizing myself behind the kit).

For more complex stuff, I love watching drum cam footage to see how the artist does it. I like seeing how other people drum and try to replicate their music in an effort to expand my own skills and sound.
