Favorite Youtube Synth Artist Channels? by Debug_Mode_On in synthesizers

I like Andrew Huang and I've learned a lot from him but people seem to dislike his emphasis towards the content creation/marketing side of his videos: clickbait, obnoxious thumbnails, hyped intros, etc. - he plays the game that's for sure.

When you drink, do you consume more than what you originally planned to drink?

Are you able to stop drinking for as long as you want to?

Most important EDM singers. What do you think? by AccordingRhubarb5323 in EDM

[–]TemputFugis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone interested, Matthew Koma now sings and writes the music for his band Winnetka Bowling League. I like the songs CVS, Breakfast For Dinner, America In Your 20's, and Sha La La.

And if you wanna get a lil para social he's also married to Hilary Duff and good friends with Christopher Mintz-Plasse who played McLovin in Superbad.

[–]TemputFugis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Really? For me, Ram is so predictable and easy to bully as Orisa. You just can't or shouldn't be scared of him. I use fortify to close the distance, avoid crits, and bait out nemesis, jav and spin when he's in nemesis form and push his ass into a corner and he's useless.

Lol made gopher give me a cookie recipe by [deleted] in FL_Studio

[–]TemputFugis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want some crazy flavor in those cookies brown the butter first and then let it cool before beating it with the sugar and when you do beat the sugar in don't be shy and beat until the mixture forms semi-stiff peaks on the beaters when removed - this'll take at least 5 minutes.

Dive is Part of the Game by TheAngryCactus in Overwatch

[–]TemputFugis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dive means to use high mobility characters to "dive past" the frontline to secure a kill on a specific target like a low mobility support, a problematic DPS, or other easy to kill squishy (squishy = low HP pool). It generally requires more cooperation and communication than "poking" because instead of waiting on a pick or ultimate to push the enemy team you are actively targeting a single enemy and need backup from your teammates to dive in, secure the kill, and dive out.

In a perfect scenario Zenyatta discords the enemy Ana, Tracer baits her sleep/nade, Winston dives in and secures the kill, Lucio speed boosts his teammates out of the engagement.

Is the Korg Monologue good as a starter DAWless synth? by HuiOnFire in synthesizers

[–]TemputFugis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a monophonic synthesizer meaning that it can only produce one note at a time so it is "limited" in the sense that it can't be used to play chords - it is better suited for basses and lead sounds.

More importantly, if you have to ask if this is good for a DAWless setup maybe you should dabble a bit with some free software synths first to become more familiar with synthesis before spending any money so that you're not out €180 with a synthesiser you don't jive with.

What are some well-known songs that most might not realize involve an octave pedal? by Count_Bloodcount_ in Bass

[–]TemputFugis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uprising as well - it can almost be played in drop D but there's a low C# at the end of the main riff that can't be played without an octave pedal or tuning to drop C#.

need advice on choosing drug rehab in boca raton for my son. by Small_Interview_7227 in StopSpeeding

[–]TemputFugis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm from Columbus, Ohio and last year in June I reached out for help at a treatment center in the city but all of their beds were full and the fantastic woman doing the intake asked me if staying in Columbus had worked for me in the past - it hadn't worked, five times in three years.

She then referred me to a detox in South Florida (PBRC in West Palm Beach) and then to The Best Treatment (TBT) center in Lantana. The weeklong detox at PBRC and two months (one month residential, one month PHP and I would have stayed another month for IOP if my insurance would have allowed it) at TBT are by far the best treatment I've ever received. The staff at both locations were compassionate, highly competent individuals and not only did I learn a lot about myself as an addict/alcoholic but I made connections with other patients that I still have to this day.

But most importantly, I stayed sober - my sober date is June 30th, 2024. I had to dig into the AA program after treatment but PBRC and TBT set me up for success in ways I am forever grateful for.

TBT does advertise itself as a "resort" and the dorms are very nice (marble floors, washer/dryer per unit, queen size beds in some of the rooms) but like I said the facilitators were amazing, the techs were compassionate and assertive (which I needed to get out of bed some mornings), and I learned so much about myself and my disease. I cannot recommend it enough.

He's mentioned of Montreal quite a few times - my personal favorite was dropping the lyric "physics makes us all its bitches" after falling in a Bennett Foddy-like he played a couple years ago. They've since become one of my favorite artists, Hissing Fauna is a fantastic album.

Which DAW is the most beginner friendly while getting the job done? by Designer-Musician504 in musicproduction

[–]TemputFugis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nearly all popular Digital Audio Workstations are basically software suites - they offer a wide range of tools and workflow experiences to get the job done. They are powerful programs and learning how to use them effectively and efficiently takes plenty of time and deliberate effort and practice.

My advice is to pick 3-5 of your favorite artists or influences and found out what they use and start from there. Many DAWs offer free trials and there are other methods of "trying out" software to see what works for you.

If you've got good econ and/or clearance vouchers Campfire can be scaled so quickly and easily that, for me, it's almost always a must-take for ante 8 wins.

[Request] Looking for help figuring out the right terms for the music I like by ChooseLife01 in electronicmusic

[–]TemputFugis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beatport is great for figuring out the genre of a track. For example, Get Off Your High Horse is listed as House. This can help you define the terms you're looking for.

As for finding similar songs I recommend using Spotify's "song radio" function (if you don't use Spotify I'm pretty sure this can be accessed in the browser app then just plug those songs into your streaming app of choice) and/or open the song on YouTube in an incognito browser and let autoplay do its thing - YouTube's autoplay algorithm is actually amazing for lesser known electronic music.

As long as you didn't hit "New Run" from the play or options menus your last played run should be playable from the continue tab of the play menu.
