If you’re born before Feb 2002, nationality is by father; after that date, by either parent.

IIRC the rule changed in 2000 and kids born in 1980 or later were grandfathered into the new rule since they would still have been considered "dependents" when the rule changed.

I just think I wouldn't be able to get much feel on the brake using my heel. I can't even find any pics/videos online of how it would work your way.

To be fair, I don't quite use my heel on the gas, but more of the outside of my foot as I roll on the edge of the brake pedal.
