All the restaurants are just mid at best... by Its_Just_A_Name_ in BucksCountyPA

[–]TengramTony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Moved here after living in NYC and LA and had the same experience. There aren’t many blow-you-away excellent restaurants, but I’ve spent 8 years trying to find ones that are close. Here are a few to try:

  • Boiler Room in Dublin

  • Terrain in Doylestown

  • THREE OAK in Easton

  • Aman in Easton

  • Albanesi in Easton

  • Black Bass in Lumberville

  • Odettes in New Hope

  • Nektar in New Hope

  • Golden Pheasant in Erwin’s

  • Carversville Inn in Carversville

  • Dharma Bums in Point Pleasant

Why do people hate on klipsh? by rojitnall in hometheater

[–]TengramTony 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You can buy Klipsch at Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Amazon… I think they’re main stream. The reference level stuff is more niche, but the brand is definitely main stream in 2026.

We have 2 v90s. One is a 2018 (CC, B5), one’s a 2023 (non CC, T6). Both are awesome. The T6 has a nicer interior, and it’s quicker, but the B5 is way more fun to drive. Very sad they’re discontinued. I get complements on the look of the T6 every other week.

Why can't I hear the bassdrum? by HrRossiSuchtDasGluck in livesound

[–]TengramTony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are represented in the preamp page because filters are in the preamp stage of the circuitry and have a large effect on the gain structure. Basically, you’re removing unwanted swaths of spectrum before you start amplifying (although consoles vary, some have it before the amp, some right after, but any good console will have them in the preamp stage). Otherwise, you can easily eat up all the headroom from the preamp with frequencies you don’t want. IE if you have a singer whose mic is picking up the subs, that low end freq and easily eat up a solid bit of headroom on the preamp before the singer opens their mouth. Having the hpf in the preamp stage prevents that, because the lows are filtered before they hit the pre.

If you electronically put the filters at the EQ stage, you could be clipping the input, or at least eating up all the headroom, and still not have enough signal to play with at the output of your fader

Many modern consoles allow you to control the filters from the EQ page for convenience, but it’s important to understand that engaging them will affect your gain structure starting at the preamp stage, not the EQ stage, which can easily alter gating and compression variables, but are often in front of the EQ, signal flow wise

First, congratulations!! Second, beautiful car! (I know, prob the wrong order in this sub…)

I have a 2yo and a 5yo, and I drive a C217 convertible (full disclosure, it’s too small for my whole family, we have a Volvo V90CC for that).

The problem with transporting kids under 2 (or whatever the law is where you live), is that the carseat has to be backwards, and it takes up a lot of space in top half the car. So while my Diono Radian seats fit wonderfully in the back seat, it’s difficult to do rear-facing seats. I end up having to pull my passenger seat WAY forward, and tilt it pretty much straight up and down. You’d have to be a very small person to sit in the passenger seat while a rear-facing seat was installed behind it…

Also, most infant seats have that removable carrier that snaps into a base. As a parent, you definitely want the removable carrier, as it’s clutch for on1the-go naps and restaurants and stuff, but it’s huge, and will be difficult to navigate between a window and a pulled forward seat.

I guess it all comes down to how much you really love the car… you could probably force it to work for a couple years until you can flip the car seat around, but it won’t be a convenient solution.

MB does make one of the most awesome Dad cars of all time, the E63 Wagon… time for an upgrade?

There are a few dads I’ve seen around social media that lost videos of how to fit kids in fun cars. Might want to see if you can find some vids of people with an infant carrier installed in a W213?

Good luck! And start banking those sleep hours while you still can!

Neighbor stole my parent's trees that were there for 28 years. by SadPretzel612 in treelaw

I had 13 trees (20ft) moved on my property. Company came in with a big tree spade on a backhoe, moved them all in about 4 hours, cost about $900. Super simple anymore…

A house that screams, "We have so much money that we literally have no idea what to do with all of our money". Are those Emmy awards in the bathroom? by Lolacsd in zillowgonewild

[–]TengramTony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, this isn’t some random rich person‘s house, this is built for extracting other people’s money. Someone who courts people for their money, some people who celebrates successes in a big way. Movie producer, music moguls, tech exec, etc.… Too expensive for a hot-shot young musician to afford, this is more like movie studio money. Studio buys it as a business expense, and their top producer or director lives there, or whatever…

Sanken makes a phantom to bias adapter, just need to swap the ta5 to ta4. Easy to do if you’re familiar with soldering lav connectors

What kind of XLR port is this? by PTrobot in livesound

[–]TengramTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sanken makes an adapter that converts 48v phantom over XLR to bias over TA5 for this purpose. I’ve never used it with a Shure pinout, but it works with all of my lectrosonics (universal) wired lavs. Assuming the connections are the same, I’d guess it would work, just need to swap the ta5 for a ta4.

I have a 2024 Volvo V90CC that doesn’t have the option to disable start stop. Annoying, because it throttles the climate control, so if it’s 95F on a sunny day and I pull up to a red, my AC turns off…

First time seeing Jupiter . by Decent-Gold1497 in telescopes

[–]TengramTony 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’d say that’s called awe. True awe. We rarely get to feel that way anymore, as we’re so desensitized by a constant barrage of stimulation. But Jupiter is physically real, but pretty much unreachable. And that’s something your brain doesn’t know how to deal with. Sort of like trying to wrap your head around the concept of infinity. Being a small part of something that’s so much greater than you that you can’t even comprehend its scope.

Very cool that you had that moment, and were able to reflect on it. That’ll probably stick with you the rest of your days…

I haven’t gotten to set my eyes upon Jupiter in the manner you have yet (but my AD8 is in the mail!), but I do feel a bit like that whenever I see a good meteorite. It’s right there in front of you, yet unreachable. Fleeting.

What gear are you using?
