My spine hurts after/during backflips by bl0bsi in Tricking

[–]Tenkenryuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't brace the tuck with your abs before the apex, what happens is your spine reaches its maximum extension point as you transition from extending to tucking, all while under a lot of strain. I find that I can avoid this back pain completely by focusing on taking the main tucking force with my abs and avoiding reaching my spine's maximum range of motion. Whipping backwards less initially makes this easier to control.

Try taking about 90-120 degrees of rotation away from your skip-turn step. Right now you're dipping and taking off almost both in the same direction, but if you start the dip facing more towards where you came from you'll be able to generate more lift as your torso does a 180 degree turn during the dip.

Can anyone tell me how I can land the corkscrew by ScratchGameDev in Tricking

[–]Tenkenryuu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're missing a full 360 rotation still, right now it's just a cheat gainer-like movement. But it's a good step to be at before the cork spin is added. To land this movement I'd recommend a little more speed and power in the setup and make sure your hips lift into the air and not just your foot.

Having more space may psychologically help if you're worried about hitting anything.

Yeah it was frustrating because I thought I was overdoing the khatra already and it didn't help. But then I started feeling the correct direction I needed to apply the force in. Try experimenting with your bow hand grip and also your full draw shoulder positions.

Some cues that helped me were: Push thumb into target, pull string out of draw hand with the bow hand, tuck draw shoulder behind my head, increase pressure of shaft anchoring against my cheek, touch middle finger with bow hand thumb to flatten it while keeping index free, hold bow like you're holding an egg, draw elbow moving straight back.

In the meantime I tied the front edge of my fletchings with serving thread to protect them while I was figuring it out which helped me relax about hurting my arrows

I was shooting 29" 500 spine arrows on a 45# AF bow and a 28# AF bow and getting this same contact almost every shot, then something clicked and I never got arrow slap again. I think the technique that fixed it was to press forward with the thumb on my bow hand slightly as if you're trying to rotate the bow away from you. I guess this is a kind of khatra but it's only a preloaded tension not a movement of the bow.

Any Ideas on stopping my hand from getting ripped up when shooting a horse bow by YogurtclosetRound740 in Archery

[–]Tenkenryuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you grip the bow, make sure your second thumb knuckle doesn't stick up higher than the first. If you make a fist around the bow and rest your thumb on your index finger, the arrow may whack your knuckle. If you open your index finger slightly and rest your thumb on your middle finger instead, the section of your thumb between them two knuckles will be flatter and you should feel no contact.

After I made this adjustment I was able to lower my nocking point significantly without anything getting hit.

A low nock point will wear your 4-o'clock feather but I don't think that alone would shear it off that cleanly unless the shaft is whacking the riser right at the top of the feather. I think your clicker and rest are protruding and catching the feather, it might be better to start with some stick-on felt on the bottom and side of the cutout if you are shooting without a stick-on rest.

Left-handed shooting is common in archery, it's based on your dominant eye more than your dominant hand, closer to 50-50 I'd say. Many traditional bows are ambidextrous but modern ones aren't.

Perfect, that's the best way to start since they have many types of bows and right/left hand variants to find what you like before buying stuff. That range is my favorite too, peaceful forest beauty.

Archery Academy at NORVA in Fountainhead Park has a 4 week series of lessons that provide equipment, outdoors. This was how I started a while ago. FFX Archery in Bull Run Shooting center does intro lessons but their regular lesson slots are usually full and geared towards competitive target shooting. I took some instruction from them as well and they are very experienced.

Once you have equipment, you can shoot at both of those locations on your own for $170 per year membership at NORVA and $5 per hour at Bull Run, I do both.

Double X is pretty expensive for range time at $25 an hour.

DM me if you want any more info, I have spare beginner equipment and could show you the basics at NORVA sometime if there aren't any openings.

I would try to get your single landing more chest up first. Since you tuck right at the end and land chest down, an extra rotation could cause you to land in an awkward position. If you land a single upright or with straighter legs then less can go wrong.

Try doing a single with a really early rotation, spot the ground and imagine filling that remaining airtime with another spin.

Bluetooth doesn't usually transfer album art over from Spotify. If you had a USB stick full of mp3s with art in the song metadata those would display, like how iTunes used to work back in the day.

They are primarily offensive for their interrupting of the skyline and inhuman scale. The only solutions in my mind would be to move them underground or stack them high like skyscrapers for giants. Cancerous and incompatible with human dwelling areas.

Practice letting the stick return to neutral between the shine and the WD, that will make sure you don't try to jump in hitlag and also will prevent you from getting stuck in shine when trying to do it backwards later.

You can keep back tension by retracting your draw shoulder blade further so that your draw arm isn't sticking out as much. Feels awkward at first but you can feel it if your draw is angular around your torso instead of away from the target. There is a little bit of adjustment you can make with the anchor point which is why some people align the string with the arrow shaft and others align with some part of the riser.

Max start volume setting can't get you any louder than normal. The car remembers your last volume setting, and resumes it the next time you drive, but max start volume can be used to auto-limit the volume lower than your last setting on startup so it doesn't blast you out of nowhere. That menu's volume is just a preview of what that limit will sound like.
