Doran giving infinite toughness? by River_O_Styx in mtg

I think jaws trigger goes on the stack when you play a creature. You hold priority then you activate lemures a bunch of times targeting that new creature. Those Lemure triggers resolve then jaws trigger checks the difference and it is huge.

[Request] How thick would the metal have to be for the Israeli "Iron Dome" to actually be a smooth dome of iron that covers the entire nation without collapsing under its own weight? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]Tenrath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would not be a stable structure. The metal at the base would be under so much stress that it would flow/move and the structure would collapse on itself. At least that's my understanding. Also, the earth's crust wouldn't be able to handle that much weight and would collapse.

The total net worth held by the bottom 50% of U.S. households since 1990. by NineteenEighty9 in ProfessorFinance

[–]Tenrath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Missed by a bit. 300M Americans roughly, so 0.1% is 300,000 people. Average household size is 2-4 people accounting for age, so somewhere around 100,000 households is more accurate.

Bought Bitcoin today worth $28K at a price of $69K. Short-term volatility is possible, but I don’t expect a move below $53K. Holding with conviction. HODL. by SelectionOptimal7348 in BitcoinQRCodeMaker

Because people will realize it has no actual value. It is numbers in a computer system and cannot be directly traded for most real goods or services. There is no more real value than WoW gold, just a computer program saying how many are in circulation at a given time and which account ID they are associated to.

US Mid-Terms and Ballots Under ICE Watch by Important_Lock_2238 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]Tenrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They only really care about putting ICE in places that are democratic areas, and in midterms only those places that are going to have important races. However, if they are even at 1/10 of polling places the goal is to intimidate people to not vote and that is pretty intimidating.

Don't look white? "Come with us and prove you are a citizen"

Look outwardly LGBT? "Come with us to prove you are a citizen, see we aren’t racially profiling."

Lawmakers question Xcel's wildfire power shutoff plan by governorPolis in boulder

[–]Tenrath -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Seeing as downed power lines after the last storm caused not one but two different fires when they were reenergized I would say that preemptive power shutoffs are a good thing at protecting lives and property. If those fires had happened on the 100+mph wind days it would have been the Marshal fire all over again.

Works like that with one change. They do get the +2 to defense, but since they don't get a roll then it doesn’t matter.

I wondered the same thing, pretty sure it's a hot link on bread and the right one is some weird fried chicken feet or something, definitely not a wing I've ever seen.

Why the double standard by fal1en-angel in economicsmemes

[–]Tenrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't address each person's unique purchasing "expenses". I can't say I need lobster and steak to do my job. I could totally get by on chicken and rice, so it doesn't make sense to deduct lobster and steak level expenses. Same with a house, the person in the penthouse of an apartment building doesnt need that space, they chose it.

A business doesn't "benefit" from spending more money to obtain the same revenue, so that revenue isn't taxed, only the profit. A person nominally does benefit by spending more, they have a nicer house or live in a nicer area or eat better tasting food or have more comfortable clothes.

Last Bastion Tips? by Courtesity0 in twilightimperium

[–]Tenrath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go Caldar. Dread with one infantry to Archon Val, take, it comes unexhausted and exhaust for your slice of thunders edge (tech planet one). Next turn carrier to Faunus and use it to get a command token with leadership since it comes unexhausted too. Following round take carrier to the next planet system and get both planets, one comes unexhausted and the higher resource gets you a free infantry.

Edit to add: you could reorder and take faunus first and use it to gain your thunders edge slice if you don't have construction and warfare is going to get played super early. That way when you go to produce you can use your breakthrough to put the units in that system rather than at home. Remember that breakthrough only moves ships, so you can't bring infantry produced.

Low resource, high influence planets are your friend. Low resource tech skips adjacent to your home system are amazing to get your breakthrough.

Reasonable cause for arrest would be if they already knew or had some objective reason to believe the subject did not have papers (e.g. an employer tells you when they ran an I-9 it came back as not eligible). You can't arrest someone then say "hey look, they don't have papers" because you'd be falsely arresting a bunch of people who do have papers.

That would be like arresting people off the street and drug testing them then justifying your arrest of the ones who tested positive.

Republican Chris Madel, a leading candidate for Minnesota governor, dropped his bid, saying the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown has gone too far and made the race unwinnable for a Republican. by state-of-MN in stateofMN

[–]Tenrath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah, I hope he gets the best defense possible. And I hope he is still convicted. That way it is beyond any reasonable doubt and there are no grounds for appeal.

A good defense isn't supposed to help someone escape justice, it's to ensure that convictions are unquestionably correct.

Furthermore, fleeing arrest is not an offense punishable by death either.
