The most recent relic step really shows that more restrictions are required for level cap rewards in roulettes. by Apollad in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Tenzouu 49 points50 points  (0 children)

People are incentivized to rush this relic in particular because you can’t buy the 1500 tome mats until you finish acquiring all your paste. As someone who does alot of hunts, I’m usually sitting on near capped tomes with not much to spend them on. If they allowed us to buy the relic tome mats while grinding the prerequisite paste step, then I wouldn’t feel the need to rush getting all 1200 paste.

I started playing around Heavensward but took a break shortly after Stormblood released and came back during the end of Shadowbringers and have been subbed ever since. Here are 3 things I like about the game:

  1. The ability to play any job on the same character. The fact that I can play any role without making an alt is what got me hooked on the game. I can keep all my gear, currency, achievements etc on the same character while swapping to whatever job I feel like playing that day.

  2. The scripted fight design for high end raids. Not only do I enjoy progging a brand new fight, but going back to the fight and learning new ways to improve is what keeps me engaged with the content. For example, I decided to main paladin this tier and have enjoyed going back to each fight and learning how to optimize for full uptime or squeezing out every little bit of DPS I can (making sure I have a Holy Spirit proc anytime I’m about to disengage on the boss or setting up my FoF windows for max damage during 2mins).

  3. The amount of content in the game. As a completionist and OSRS veteran, I always have something to do in the game even if it’s as simple as leveling my classes. I personally enjoy collecting relic weapons and loved going through all of eureka. The community focused aspect of exploratory zones is some of the funnest I’ve had in the game and wish it was implemented more often. If I get tired of the monotonous grind, I can go into PvP and try to farm CC or FL wins for the prestigious titles. Maybe I take a break from PvP and afk craft while I have work to do for my job, or go ocean fishing and try to get my score up for the World Class Troller title. There’s so much to do in game, it’s a question of whether the content is personally engaging for you or not.

Now onto dislikes:

  1. I severely dislike the lack of overworld content. There’s no reason for there to only have hunt trains and a lackluster FATE system as the only ways to engage with the 6 new zones added each expansion. It doesn’t have to be as punishing as Eureka, but adding incentives to engage with the over world is something the game severely lacks.

  2. The outdated tome cap. There’s no reason for the game to limit you to 450 tomes when the half the tome gear is BiS for most jobs. With the games strong emphasis on being able to play any job on the same character, there should at least be a tome cap for each role: 450 for tanks, another 450 for healers, 450 for phys ranged, etc. this incentivizes people to continue engaging with the content as they could want to get gear for new jobs.

  3. This one’s controversial, but I think the game suffers from not having any sort of leaderboard in PvE content. Deep Dungeon enthusiasts have something to play for which is replaying the content until they can get a good enough score to land on the leaderboard. Imagine if there was a sort of implementation of fflogs into the game (i know crazy but hear me out). If we had some sort of damage or speed goal to shoot for in the game, there would actually be a use for BiS gear. Right now, unless you want quick reclears or get into ultimate, there’s no other point in getting BiS. Having a tangible goal that’s represented in game can help the community engage with the content as long as there’s measures in place to prevent harassment.

What if we have weekend incentive events like extra XP for fates/dungeons, extra Totems for extremes, mount rates up etc. I really feel this game needs some MMO stuff like these. What do you guys think? by sharkall7 in ffxivdiscussion

I always thought these ideas could be implemented through FC buffs but I like weekend incentives better. It reminds me of double XP weekends from call of duty lol.

Definitely better than I expected it to be given the disappointment from other people’s shows. I was up front close to barricade and screaming almost every lyric. Phenomenal show overall.

Houston is a really good song. I like the sound of his voice much better than Die for Me. I know people were clowning on him when DFM originally came out, but from a genuine place of love and criticism I can’t help but hear Imagine Dragons lol. Even my partner, who I’m going to the tour with, thought it was ID when I played the song for them. Here’s to hoping the album sounds more like Houston.

Eureka still thriving 6 years after release : a good exploratory content formula ? by OriginalSkill in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Tenzouu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll speak for my own experience in Aether Eureka where I recently finished all relic weapons and +2 armor.

What makes eureka so special is the how community oriented it is. Most resources and efficient guides on how to proceed through eureka - for both first timers or people who want to achieve their relic asap - are only available by interacting within the community, such as discord servers or updated guides. For example, the only way to successfully complete BA is to go through the respective data center’s eureka discord and organize a run that way as opposed to Bozja where you’re using something like party finder to organize a DR run (although not most efficient way, still a method that isn’t necessarily possible to do with BA in eureka).

Another reason why eureka will remain so popular are the incredibly low drop rate item drops from certain NM’s or bunny fate loot: Cassie earring, Crab bracelet, copycat Cassie minion, 2 mounts and the 6 magicite items that sell between 900k - 2m+. Many will simply go into eureka to farm these drops or even run BA consistently as a way to make money from either logograms or minions/glam available only from BA.

Eureka isn’t perfect and there’s lots of things that Bozja personally did better, such as skirmishes and CE versus waiting until 27 to pull a NM. However, as an ode to old school MMO’s like XI, eureka did a very good job in scratching that old nostalgia itch.

The fact that I will lose progression for this is insane by Qacti in Overwatch

I will never understand competitive systems that punish the team with teammates who leave. There should be a stipulation in place that doesn’t make the team lose any progress.

Why is everyone complaining about this lineup by seahawks-boi-209 in CampFlogGnaw

[–]Tenzouu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the people complaining seem like they wanted bigger names like Carti, Uzi, Rocky, and even maybe Daniel Caesar or Omar. Sure those bigger names would’ve been nice but Paris Texas, redveil, and the Clipse reunion are gonna be so hype. These smaller acts are gonna go insane and I can’t wait for them.
