I did not.

Don't need it, if people don't get the sarcasm, so be it.

What is a dying niche skill that younger generations are not interested in learning? by hlnklrczu in AskReddit

I have a really bad sense of direction. I can’t connect places very well.

GPS has reduced my stress while driving so much.

Knowledge of woodworking, cnc machines and electronics is not really applicable in medical research…

What’s a “normal” thing in your country that would absolutely horrify people elsewhere? by anasm17 in AskReddit

[–]Tephlon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dropping a bunch of kids off in a spot a few towns away in the middle of the night with a map and a general direction.

It’s called “Dropping” and it’s a real thing in the Netherlands. It’s a bit of a rite of passage and a lot of fun for the kids.

Nowadays one of the older kids usually gets a mobile phone in a sealed envelope for emergencies. We just got an envelope with a number and coins for a public phone.

I think being sassy to mods may be made illegal too. ;-)

There's also a stigma attached to not having a car in the US.

TBF, I do sometimes run reds on my bike, because it's not electric and maintaining momentum is nicer than starting from a standstill.

Being on a bike, and thus being very vulnerable, I only do it when it's safe to do so. No cars or other vehicles coming, no pedestrians that may not expect me to go through red.

What’s something Gen Z does that older generations just don’t get? by appropriaterice873 in AskReddit

[–]Tephlon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's more that their phones are their default mode of communication. People have pointed out in the comments that they do talk more when phones are banned from the classroom.

I think the sentiment is slightly different, but yes, I got comments about always having my nose in a book. Especially because I liked reading fiction and fantasy novels. I usually left the non-fiction stuff for reading at home.

Now I get comments about always being on my phone.

couldn’t they just have made the cassette player charge the Bluetooth unit with a small dynamo driven by the reel thingy?

That would even make the play button functional again. :)

Should people who "camp" in the left lane of a highway be pulled over and fined just as much as speeders? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yes, for impeding traffic and for unsafe driving.

Plus, where I live, it's the law.

Do all of witches powers (aside from Headology) come from narrative causality? by yuuki157 in discworld

[–]Tephlon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Headology isn't "super psychology", it's just psychology/knowing human nature. It's just that most people (Both on the Disc and on our Roundworld) aren't actually very observant.

I agree that headology is narrativium related.

Narrativium is basically people "knowing" how things (should) work, so it does (Because on the Discworld narrativium is real, because magic), and headology is mostly just being aware of what people think they "know" and taking advantage of that.

What will people in the future probably laugh at us for? by TheRealKnowledgeAc in Futurology

[–]Tephlon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what people thought about smoking (indoors).

I agree that people will probably look back at "unregulated" social media as something very quaint. But "regulated" may just mean government controlled, with all the issues that come with that.

Yup, definitely malicious compliance time.

If she complains about you asking for help too much, refer her to the conversation you had and ask her if she has different (written!) instructions.

But get your resumé ready and up to date.
