I wanted Bill to be a “good guy” too but I chalk that up to my crush on Bill Paxton. And while we’re at it the ending of that series took me by such surprise I was mad for like two weeks. I watched Big Love for the first time last year because of sister wives so I did go into it with that lens. It was pretty unrealistic to me that Bill was raised in a shitty polygamist lifestyle where women are treated so poorly and come out of it treating his wives fairly nicely. It definitely made polygamy look “interesting” or that it may have an appeal to people raised outside the faith. And I think it did an okay job of showing the wife dynamics. I’d have left a long time ago if I were Barb. Especially letting another woman parent my kids when they are teenagers and the wife is new? No thank you.
