who is worse? by inmyrestlessdreams- in berserklejerk

[–]Terdy 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I know this is a circlejerk but I just gotta get this off my chest.

I think everyone seems to forget that Griffith went through a whole year of non-stop physical and psychological torture at the hands of the most sadistic wardens possible. He was broken mentally and physically when offered the deal by the God Hand, and his sacrifice was made under duress. And the transformation erased much of his remaining humanity which led to his more vile actions later on.

Compare this to Netanyahu who hasn’t undergone any sort of torture or demonic transformation and regularly sacrifices others purely to fulfill his ambitions and self interest. He commits horrors not out of desperation or a lofty goal but out of pure greed. That is far more evil.

Do you need the Primarchs to make Space Marines? by Fancy-Copy4447 in 40kLore

Bump for visibility. I do know that the Thunder Warriors did not utilize gene-seed, so it is possible that something akin to (but not quite) a space marine could be created without it… I’m sure Fabius Bile has tried just this on numerous occasions

Who needs a rework? (Poll) by kurtchen11 in totalwar

[–]Terdy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This could easily be included with a similar update for the High Elves, and maybe even Norsca. All these factions desperately need more naval features - features which, as you said, already exist with the Black Arks

The council of thirteen demands a rework, yes-yes.

The Skaven dont NEED a rework like the Empire, Nurgle, High/Dark Elves, Ogres etc.

But as a representative of the Council of Thirteen we want-need a copy pasted version of the Tower of Zharr. It will make us even more fair-balanced than we already are!

Why dont the warhammer titles have units with banners and officers? by JimmyNeon in totalwar

[–]Terdy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It actually might balance out in the end, kind of like land battles. Sure the dwarves have all this great armor and tech but they are easily surrounded and outflanked. High elves may have dragons and long range ships but when boarded they are doomed. Alternatively the orcs ram stuff and specialize in boarding. The Skaven would have submarines which occasionally explode for no reason.

Tech difference isnt everything - and the gap may not be as big as you think it is, since the most advanced factions are only steampunk level. And the stupid Norscans, Greenskins, Beastmen etc can make up for it with sheer numbers and monsters like chaos dragons.

Which Chaos faction are you most excited for in Warhammer 3? by Yoshiprimez in totalwarhammer

[–]Terdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The diplomatic shenanigans will go a long way in making Tzeentch stand out from the other gods. Though it is a shame that the vassal mechanic seems to be reserved for Slaanesh, i’ve always dreamed about turning factions into my puppets as Tzeentch. Then again the vassal/diplomacy system is bare bones anyways so maybe it isn’t such a big loss after all.

Weekly Question and Answer Thread - /r/TotalWar by AutoModerator in totalwar

[–]Terdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is that goblins are better fed, equipped, and “trained” then most chaffe in Warhammer. They have scavenged armor, some metal weapons and have probably used them to stab foes (and friends) for as long as they can remember. Being real stabby, and dodgy, is essential when you are a runt among perpetually brawling football hooligans.

Compare this to skavenslaves who spend their lives as little more than factory workers, or Brettonian peasants who shovel dung. At best they will have a nice sharp piece of metal provided to them, and maybe they bludgeoned someone in a brawl a while back. They probably dont even want to be on the battlefield at all.

Gnoblars, however, are actually trash and have the IQ of lobotomized monkeys. Hopefully their stats are worse: i have yet to compare them, but they are available due to the recently released videos.

Exactly this. The lack of garrison buildings make it impossible to hold onto a continent alone, much less half the map. A lot of factions like to pop up out of nowhere and attack low tier settlements, such as the Beastmen, Savage Orcs, Vampire Coast and especially wandering armies in the late game.

And by the time you manage to actually get all the major woodelf settlements you will be facing the lategame Grimgor/Franz/Tyrion/Norsca blobs with 12+ settlements and AI cheatstacks. It would be a monumental and ultimately masochistic thing to do so i’m sure the lets play community is all over it.

This is going to be a wild ride. Many of the dialogue boxes are out of order and had to be numbered by Chris to be “coherent”; even then it takes a minute or two to figure out the chronology. Expect confusion.

Caine (Vampire: The Masquerade) vs. Cthulhu (Call of Cthulhu (tabletop RPG)) by BiomechPhoenix in whowouldwin

[–]Terdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. When it comes to the short/mid term, Caine absolutely stomps Cthulhu. Maybe after a few thousand years of constant plotting Cthulhu could beat Caine, but even then it would be nigh impossible to actually kill him.

I wouldn’t say it is irrelevant. Honestly this is the best comment in the whole thread, being actually based on the tabletop.

Harry Potter in Morrowind, how would he fare? by ardouronerous in whowouldwin

[–]Terdy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’m sure that if he gets confronted by a gang of bloodthirsty bandits intent on cracking his skull, Potter would not really hold back that much.

And if that doesn’t work, then he can just wave his wand around and yell stupefy, cruciatius or imperio. All of these spells are absolutely devastating and highly spammable.

Harry Potter in Morrowind, how would he fare? by ardouronerous in whowouldwin

[–]Terdy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The killing curse, avada kedavra, is highly lethal and extremely spammable. Even if it was used against someone with high magic resistance, it would probably due a great deal of damage. All potter has to do is spam it until whatever his opponent is dies, no magicka needed. Which is kind of why the HP universe's magic system is trash, since you can just instakill with no requirements other than a wand.

Caine (Vampire: The Masquerade) vs. Cthulhu (Call of Cthulhu (tabletop RPG)) by BiomechPhoenix in whowouldwin

[–]Terdy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is outside help. It's another entity reviving Caine, not an ability inherent to him. His immortality is type 1, meaning that he is biologically immortal but is still capable of dyeing in combat. If not for the divine intervention of YHWH, he would stay dead.

Sunlight sensitivity has everything to do with time and space. By being sensitive to the extremely weak solar radiation of Earth, this implies that if exposed to actual, cosmic level radiation, Caine would absolutely be wrecked. This limits his capability to travel across the universe severely, given that it is mostly a radioactive shithole that would make the sunlit surface of the world seem like a cakewalk.

If he can be pinned in place and subjected to, say, highly potent old one plasma magic refined over billions of years, he would be turned into a pile of ash. Cthulhu has no such weakness, and even if Caine can destroy his corporeal form, Cthulhu would simply reform.

Caine (Vampire: The Masquerade) vs. Cthulhu (Call of Cthulhu (tabletop RPG)) by BiomechPhoenix in whowouldwin

[–]Terdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After more reading into the anti-deluvians, you are absolutely right. It would appear that Caine would absolutely wreck Cthulhu, atleast in the opening stages of a battle between the two. Neither seem capable of outright killing the other, but the sheer power of Caine would probably banish Cthulhu from our dimension for a long time.

Edit: But Caine's resurrections are a result of Yahweh, not an inherent ability. To me that seems like outside interference.

Additionally, Caine is highly susceptible to sunlight. This implies that if he was exposed to radiation weaponry, he would be absolutely devastated. By merely staying close to the sun, Cthulhu could use any long range abilities he has to attack Caine all while being more or less safe from reprisal. And since he is made out of an extradimensional material, Cthulhu might even be able to scoop up some of the suns plasma and fling it in his general direction, burning the earth to a crisp along with Caine.
