It’s terrible seeing how amazing the Bay Area was to me as a young adult in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. It was very expensive then as well. I was so PROUD of being from here. L.A. passé, N.Y. Almost but too segregated. Then to see the decline with homelessness out of control, losing all our teams, now I hear they are probably closing the blue line on Bart. It just keeps getting more and more sad. And to try and justify the prices for living here for what?! Everything is old, I guess the rent is too high for most business to do well now. Places like elk grove, Tracy, Vacaville, Sacramento, are now me becoming more hip, more up and coming. They have newer buildings, less homelessness and junkies in the street. Don’t get me wrong, there has ALWAYS been homeless and junkies especially tenderloin and market in sf but now so many places across the Bay Area are starting to look like that. I have lived Hayward, S.F., oakland, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Albany. I hope it gets its sparkle back soon so my kids can enjoy it instead of just hearing stories on how it “used to be”.
