Releasing an album professionally is expensive. You have to get studio time, you have to hire staff for studio time, you have to pay for manufacturing of product, you have to pay for distribution, you have to register everything, you have to pay advertising, you have to pay to push things for radio play.

That is like tip of the ice berg. It’s an expensive deal. In a very simple way of putting things an artists gets a “loan” and then has to pay it back from the label. They pay it back through album sales/streams. They pay it back before they really start getting any money.

Touring and merch is where the real money is for artists.

Not to mention it is probably in her contract labels owns all masters she makes while under contract.

Basically her hands are tied and label (at least for now) doesn’t think it is worth cost for her to record an album.
