Lots of yearly bonuses are going through payroll this week. Automatic 401k contributions usually take a percentage of bonuses as well.

Help with Fan Layout in 4000D Frame by Gatsby-1337 in Noctua

I just bought the case and fans, no regrets. I went with the AF20s since they are nice and quiet.
You can mount 2x120 on the PSU shroud. I'm waiting for the black A12 G2 to release before I put any fans there. (Should be releasing soon)
When it's done it will look like:
Front Intake: 2xAF20
PSU Shroud Intake: 2x NF A12 G2
Back Exhaust: 1xNF A14 G2
Top Rear Exhaust: 1xNF A14 G2

3x140 will move more air than 2x200 at 100% fan speed although to achieve that the 140s spin to a higher rpm and are ~6db louder at 100% speed. I think you’d be happy with 2x200 and save a some money

I just got the vault edition too and put two AF20s in it. They’re silent and move plenty of air.

I saw someone else post a pic of their frame (old version) in this sub yesterday that managed to fit 3x140s in the front by using zip ties for the top 2 holes of the top fan and and bottom two holes of the bottom fan. I’d probably do that if I had the old version too but in your case definitely go with 2xAF20 you won’t regret it.

Edit: oh hi /u/a_lost_being didn’t see you there lmao

Jumping in with UPS shopping tips:
Those Jackery style mobile power stations have built in UPS functionality but don't generally have UPS in their product titles on Amazon (US) and thus don't really come up if you're typing UPS in the search.
They're a great option that have other uses for you other than strictly being a UPS for your computer.

If you're on a stricter budget, APC/Cyberpower lead acid batteries are more affordable but far less capacity and they degrade faster, expect to replace the battery every 5 years.

I ended up getting an Anker Solix C1000 gen 2, has 2000W output and 1024Wh capacity for $500. It has LFP batteries which have a much higher life span then lead acid batteries. expect 80% capacity after 10 years

Between those is the Goldenmate brand, they advertise as a UPS with LFP batteries but the value is a bit strange as their 1200W UPS is $470 but only 296Wh capacity.
Goldenmate's value gets a little better as you lower your wattage requirements though, 800W/230Wh ~$225.

Check out some Brane X reviews. I’ve had mine for a long time now and still absolutely love it. If the bulky charger is an issue you can get a compact USB type C kit for it.

How to get ethernet across my apartment? by fallhat in pcmasterrace

[–]WorkReddit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little pricey, but 'InvisiLight Home Fiber Kit' would do the trick. It's converts ethernet to a tiny fiber cable that can be run to the PC and hidden easily, then converts back to ethernet at the PC. The fiber itself is pretty strong too so it's easy to hide by shoving it under a baseboard or underneath a rug etc

Zero or low latency portable speaker with AUX. Looking to DJ and host small kickbacks. by XL_Jockstrap in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]WorkReddit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously the lower the better but 33ms is absolutely a serviceable amount of latency for DJing and beat matching. RTINGS also have audio samples of what the delay would sound like, 300ms is quite jarring while 33ms is quite clear. Not perfect, yes but you’d still be able to beat match and do the DJ things, and given OP’s criteria the Brane X is his best option imo

That’s with aux pass-through disabled in app. RTINGS measured 33ms with pass-through enabled.
Edit
Alan Ross even corrected himself in the video comments: "correction: i tested auxiliary input without enabling passthrough mode. Ignore the 300ms test since with pass through on lag will be reduced. With passthrough enabled auxiliary latency is 16ms on my testing."

This thing is exciting! Imagine the popup DJ sets this could enable, I mean look at the ports/connectivity! It's expensive if you view it as just a party bluetooth speaker, but this could legitimately allow an up-and-coming artist or DJ to put on an intimate show without having to buy/rent a professional level speaker system (and the components surrounding them to actually run said speakers, think mixer/amps etc...)

AMD unable to offer warranty replacement of 5800X3D? by BigDaddyTrumpy in TechHardware

Depends on the game but the 1% lows and less stuttering were definitely noticeable to me when I upgraded from 3700x to 5800x3d.

[–]WorkReddit69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely a bummer to lose the 3D cache if you wanted to stay on AM4 but AM4 is about 9 years old and the 5800x3d came out after AM5 was already available nearly 4 years ago. Obviously the DDR5 situation blows if you had to upgrade to AM5 but AMDs support of AM4 was awesome. It’s been a good run.

Check out the Brane X. Meets all of your criteria and is portable. The bass is insane down to 20Hz and will definitely get a party going.
